Authority warns of flood threat
The Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority is
keeping a close watch on the
snow conditions throughout
the watershed.
Record low temperatures
and the resultant ac-
cumulation of snow have
made the possibility of
flooding from a sudden thaw
aconstant threat.

Authority, . in co-operation
with the hydromoteorlogical
section of the Conservation
Authorities Branch, controls

of the Parkhill reservoir. It is
important to maintain an
adequate water holding
capacity level so a sudden
thaw can be accomodated
and flooding reduced.
The Parkhill reservoir,
which controls the run-off
'from approximately 29 per
cent of the Parkhill Creek
watershed above the Town of
Parkhill, has been lowered
well below its normal winter
holding level to provide
maximum flood water
storage in preparation for a
sudden thaw. •

Many from the area en-
joyed the dance at the Legion
in Clinton, Saturday evening.
The music was great, and a
delicious lunch was served by
the ladies of the Legion.
Personals
Edward and Blanche
travelled to London, Friday,
to see Len off on the train to
Nova Scotia. Len Mills
phoned home Monday
evening to say they had
arrived in Nova Scotia at 7
a.m., Sunday. The plane they
were to have taken, broke
down in the \test, otherwise,
they would have arrived
home at 3 a.m. Saturday. Len
would liketo wish his hockey
team the best and would like
to say hello to all at Middleton
Church and to his friends in
Clinton and area.
Sally Bennett was home
from London with her
parents, Rev. and Mrs. Wm.
Bennett.
Mr. Patrick Sharp of Oak-
ville is visiting with his
grandparents, Rev. and Mrs.
Wm. Bennett.
Neil and Mary Bennett,
Mairon and Gareth of Lon-
don, spent the weekend with
Rev. and-Mrs.'Wm. Bennett.
Mrs. Ray Foster recently
flew to Moose Jaw to visit
with Mr. - and Mrs. Dave
Hayward, also to see her first
granddaughter. While there,
they took a tour of Moose Jaw
and P.M. quarter, where her
son-in-law is stationed with
the Air Force. They also
visited the Western
Development Museum,
recently opened to the public.
Mrs. Foster says it was a
very enjoyable trip and a
happy time was had by all.
Blanche received a letter
dated Jan. 13 from her sister-
in-law in Devon, England and
learned the weather there is'
not so good as there was no
rain this past summer. They
are in the midst- of gales,
snow storms, ice, many roads
blocked and 20-30 car
crashes. My sister -in -taw
says it is better to stay in-
doors and watch TV.
"Also in talking to Carrie
Brand about her recent trip to
Holland, we learned that the
. Dutch are having snow
storms. A very ususual spot
to get snow, Carrie says. So,
we are not the only ones with
snow.
Please note: Blanche
Deeves will be knocking on
doors as a Marching Mother
in the March of Dimes. Do,
welcome me.
