Colts to host Sunocos
Led' by the league -leading
scorer Dean Symons, the Fort
Elgin .Sunocos invade Clinton
on Sunday night to do battle
with the Colts.
While playing in 16 games
this year the swift cen-
treman, Symons has com-
piled 32 goals tp go with his 22
assists for a total of 54 points
to top the O.U.A. Inter-
mediate `C' loop. Last year,
Symons captured the scoring
crownWhile playing for the
Durham Huskies in the Senior
Continent 'A' league.
The team (Sunocos') leads
their grouping with a record
of 15 wins and three losses.
The. Colts trail the leaders by
10 points with a record- of 10
wins and 11 losses. Game
time is $ p.m.
Last weekend at the
Milverton Hockey tour-
nament, the Colts were
eliminated by the host Four -
Wheel Drives in the semi-
finals.
The Colts opened the
tournament Friday night by
trouncing the Harriston Blues

three goals.
On Saturday afternoon, the
Colts were edged 4-3 by the
Milverton Four-Wheelprives
and were eliminated. Colts
marksmen were Rick
Fremlin with two tallies,
while Larry Haugh added a
solo effort.
This week, the Colts were in
Mitchell Tuesday bight,
travel to Lucknow Friday
night, and are back in Clinton
Sunday night for an 8 p.m.

Kirk's Krusaders' joust the

where both remain tied with

In the ladies' division,
Jackie Zwaan had the high
single of 270; Brenda Dupee,
the high triple of 571 and Suzie
Chambers,the high average
of 195. Rick Carter had the
men's high of 290; Dave
Williscraft, the high triple of
737: and Rick Brown the high
average of 2Q5.

YBC Friday night
The Three Strikers have
caught the Fabulous Five in
first place with 55 points in
the YBC Friday - Night
League. Meanwhile, the 450's
battle the Strikes and Spares
with 50 points each, followed
by the Super Strikers with 49.
Cornish's Cool Cats are tied
with the Headpins at 47, and
the Bay City Bowlers trail
with 39.
Lynn Armstrong took the
girls' high single, high
double and high average of
236, 470 and 176, respectively.
John Cornish had the boys'
high single of 202 and the high
double of 345; while Phil
Cornish 11acf the high average
of 169.
YBC Majors
Bob Atkinson had the men's
high single of 287 and the high
average of 211 in the YBC
Majors. Bob Falconer had the
high triple of 664. ,
In the Ladies' division,
Wendy Gibbings had the high
single 'and triple of 261 and
644, with the high average
going to Nancy Kuehl with
194.
The Rams hold a slim lead
in the league standings with
831/2 points, leading the Rough
Riders and. Bad News Bears
tied at 82. The winners follow,
with 701/2.
Clinton Mixed '
Pickle and Friends hold the
lead in the Clinton Mixed
League with 60 points, while
the Who Cares and Keek's
Strikers battle it out for
second place with 54 points.
The X's and the O's have 49,
leading the Buzzer Bowlers
with 48 and the Flintstones
with 47. The Die Hards follow
with 43 and the True Grits
with 37.
Louise Gibbings had the
high single and high triple of
275 and 704 with Vat Marriage
taking the high average of
225,
Jamie Cooper had the
men's single of 326; Steve
Tyndall, the high triple of 673
and Don Switzer the high
average of 211.
Londesboro Men
The Doves continue to soar
in first place with 63 points in
the Londesboro Men's
League, leading the Owls
with 56 andtheFinches with
54. The Eagles follow with53;
the 'Hawks with 46 and the
Robins with 43.
Bruce Shaddick had the
high single of 289 and the high
triple of -744. Harry Lear had
the high average of 223 with
Harry Cartwright being
judged the most improved
bowler with a plus 16.
Huron-Dex
The Zepplins with 52
points have moved into
second place in the Huron-
Dex Bowling League, but still
trail the Try-Alls in first with
62. The "Headpins hold third
place with 51, leading the
Whiz Bangs with 45.
J. MacGregor had the high
single of 301 and the .high
triple of 710, with the high
average going to Louise
Gibbings with ,199. John
Howard had the high single of
202 in the men's division, Ian
Clark the high triple of 543
and Ian Hulley the high
average of 175.
Molsons' Crown
The X-Rated's are fighting
to keep first place in the
Molson's, Crown Mixed
League with the Five Stars,
all tied With 61 points. The
Alley Cats have 45. and Di's
Cheats 44, leading Bill's Girls
with 43 and Newt's Newfs
with 40.
Marie Collins swept the
ladies' division taking the
high single of 286, the high
triple of 669 and the high
average of 210.
Art Burt had the men's high
single of 283; Bill Lee the high
triple of 751 and Ken Johnston
the high average of 238. •
Atoms win consolation
•
The Clinton Wil-dex Atoms
won the "B" consulation
championship at the Seaforth
Atom tournament last
Saturday.
In their first' game, they
lost to a powerful Brussels
team by a score of 5-3. The
Clinton youngsters played
one of their poorest games of
the year to date. Scoring for
Clinton in the first game was

race around the race track to raise money for their Muscular Dystrophy fund and to
promote Non -Smokers week. The firement led by winnert Dean Reid, Ross Jewitt and

Stangs split wekendpair

Last weekend the Clinton
Mustangs split their games
on the road. Friday night in
Walkerton they trounced the
Black Hawks 9-4 while on
and Bobby Dupee with a
single. Randy Marriage had
three assists for Clinton and
received most valuable
player award.
In the championship game
against Mitchell, the local
boys skated to a 3-1 victory.
Scott .Kay, Jeff Corrie, and
Randy Marriage scored for
Clinton in ' this game. The
Mitchell goaltender received
the trophy for most valuable
player in the game as he
stopped the locals on
breakaways time and time
again.

Committees' Ninth Annual
Bantam Hockey Tournament
gets underway a week
tomorrow, Friday, January
28, and runs over six days.
There is an increase in
registration this year with 36
teams playing 40 games. Last
year 29 teams : played 33
games. The teams are in
action January 28-30 and
February 3,5,6. •
For the fourth year in the
row, the tournament has been
rescheduled from its later
dates in late February, to
avoid running into other
playoffs. •However, even this
year's earlier dates did not
avoid some problems in
Mustang

Listowel on Sunday night.

while singles were fired by
Ron Sowerby, Grant Shelton,
Tim McLean, Ken Robinson,
and Mark King.
On Sunday night in
Listowel, the Stangs fell
behind ' early in the game
when the Cyclones scored a
short handed goal. Mark King
tied the game for Clinton
briefly in the first period
before. Russ Smith gave
Listowel the go ahead goal
late in the period.
In the second frame, _the
Mustangs fell behind by a
score of 4-2 on a pair of goals
by Murray Newman while
Jamie Thompson ;replied for
Clinton..
Listowel scored four more
times in, the third period to
put the game away while the
only .Clinton goal was fired by
Robbie Heard.
The Mustangs finished
their road trips for this
season with a trip to Kin-
cardine last Wednesday
night. The score was not
available at press time:
The Mustangs have seven
home, games. remaining this
season before playoffs.
On Friday Jan. 21, the New
Hamburg Hahns will visit
Clinton for a game com-
mencing at 8:30.
The Mustangs have won 20
games so far this year while
losing only eight and tying
one.

Severe cold conditions
prevailed at showtime Sun.
Jan 16 when the Clinton
Figure Skating Club
presented "The Clinton
Follies." The driving con-
ditions at that point in the day
Are good but the low tem-
peratures kept the luke-warm
enthusiasts away. Thank
goodness for grandma and
grandpa!
The poor attendance was
disappointing kr everyone
concerned for the chances of
another.'shckw sponsored by
the Winter Carnival corn-
tnittee will be slim. We thank,
them most heartily for
sponsoring us. They deserved
much greater rewards!
Produced and
choreographed by Mrs.
Marlene Riopelle, assisted by
Mr. Guy Gordon, the show
presented some excellent,
skating. The Juniors, Barb
Norman and Carol Fox had
nicely decorated the arena
complete with curtains. The
master of ceremonies was
Cliff Marsden and music
manager was John Beane.
N.P. It was evident the whole
skating cast enjoyed skating.
Four group numbers were
very _ well presented: . two
senior numbers entitled
"Showgirl" and "Dance
Away" with excellent skills in
skating and style. There was
one intermediate number
called "Balloons, Balloons"
which featured intermediate
club soloist, Carolyn Woods
as the Aquarius girl.
Then a "Day in the Woods"
was daintily shown by the
junior group. "Costumed as
beautiful woodland flowers
and spunky little animals,
with Jennifer Woods as their
fairy princess they skated in
interesting and varied
routines quite entertaining to
the whole audience.
Other club, soloists for the
day were Barbara Forbes,
junior; Margaret Dupee,

Carole Wheeler. As a pair,
they presented their routine
which won them fourth place
last. Friday in the Central
Canadian Diyisional
Championship.
It will be of interest to our
club that this win allows them
to, compete in. Canadian
Figure skating Cham-
pionships early in February
at Calgary Alberta. How
proud Wingham must be!
We appreciated. having
them come tp our Clinton
show, Our best wishes will go
with them as they skate in the
"Canadian" for the first time.
Perhaps some day one of
Clinton's skaters may be
entered in, the Canadians.
Perhaps that one little star
skate walker, who travelled
unconcerned at his own pace,
may some day be the new
Ronnie Shaver. You never
know. . .He was a• star on
Sunday anyway. '
