After Christmas care
important for Poinsettias
During the Christmas
season the poinsettia with its
br-iThantly colored leaves
seems to be a universal
ower.
Although the • plants
1 •
originate in Mexico, cuttings
are grown in Ontario
greenhouses, and the finished
plants are readily available
across the province. ,
This traditional Christmas
plant is commonly known for
its blazing red "petals" which
are not petals at all - they are
Modified leaves called
bracts.
The real flowers are small
and inconspicuous by com-
parison, and ate found -in the
center of the colored bracts.
When looking for a healthy
poinsettia, check for brightly
colored bracts ,and clean,
dark green foliage. The
fullness of th plant and the
number of c ttings per pot
gener'ally det rmine the cost.
Poinsettias are available in
a varjety of sizes suitable for
centerpieces, table
decorations and floor plants.
A sunny, draft -free location
with temperatures of 22
degrees C (72 degrees F) in
the day and 18 degrees C (66
degrees Fl --at night are best
for poinsettias, says • Mr.
McNeill. Plants should be
given lukewarm water only

•
when ihe surface soil
becomes dry to the touch.
With proper care, the
poinsettia will keep its
colored bracts for several
months and can be planted in
the garden after the danger of
frost has passed.

I • have two questions for
IMPACT which I hope you can
help me with. The first is, that
due to what can only be called
irreconcilable differences, my
wife and I are going to live
apart. What would a
separation agi'eement do?
A separation agreement is a
contract between husband and
.wife which contains certain
terms by which they promige
to live while separated. For
example, certain needs such
as, payment paymentkr"iiiiirifeifaiiae
of the wife by the husband can
be stipulated for.
Secondly, Is it possible to
appeal after a decree absolute
for divorce has been received
by my wife?
Generally, one can only
appeal from an intermediate
order or decree nisi. _

What's all this talk- about
repatriating our Canadian
Constitution? I thought it was
always here.
The Canadian Constitutio'n
is really a collection of many
laws, customs, tules (both
Written and unwritten) ,that
co -exist with the main con-
stitutional document of the
British North America Act.
This British statute of 1867
basically sets out the division
of powers between the
provinces and the federal
government or Parliament
and has always remained in
England because of lack of
agreement 'for various
reasons, between the
provinces and the feds.
As to what procedure should
be used in bringing it back or
in amending it. The B.N.A.
Act cannot be repatriated.
since' it was never here but
can, if the governing powers
so desire it, be partiated.

-Frolik-hirtar into the garage
for some minor repairs. When
I . Went to collect it, 1
discovered that the bill was
much -more than I could afford
• right then and the garage
owner refused to let me drive
my car *way until I paid the
bill in full.
He claims he has a
mechanics lien to huld,mycar
Until 1 pay in fUll. Is he right?
He's substantially right
because a mechanics or ar-
tisans lien does indeed give
him the right to hold property
until he's been paid in full, and
he could also, in some cases,
sell the goods for satisfaction
pf the debt. It's unfortunate
that the man at the garage
w,onit be more ,reasonable .but
„he's acting within the law.
