To me Christmas means.
snowball fights", lunching on a
great big turkey dinner With
cranberry sauce, dressi .
mashed melt-in-your-znouth
potatoes ate, Christmas is a
very mouth-watering
situation, when it comes to
food. The mistletoe is really a
very interesting idea too,
where you can kiss the first
boy orfiirt who comes along.
Unwrapping presents is fun
too.but I like wrapping mostly
so I can try to see what I get. I
never do get to see, because
Mom always wraps my
presents. 1 like Christmas
because we can take school
off for 2 weeks or ' two. But
mostly what Christmas really
means to me is the birth of
our Lord, Jesus Christ!! — by

Dear Santa,
I would like a fire set,
because I could put out fires,
and I could pretend to make
the fire engines go fast. and
pretend that the fireman said
come on. 1 would also like a
drum to play on.

is at It's the season, too,
to think of others..
We are so fortunatic4n .the
things that count '... a healthy
mind and body . the
freedom to make our choice
for our future.
There are others who didn't
ask to be mentally retarded.
Or to be a burden on others.
Or to need you. But for an
accident of genetics . ' they
could be you -- or you them.
.Five years ago a small
group of people in this area
had the vision to plan an ARC
Industries, to help these
people develop the talents
they possess, to become
capable, where possible, of
engaging in gainful em-
ployment.
You,- the citizens of this
area responded and now
these facilities in Dashwood
are doing just that. Without
this workshop these "ac-
cidents of nature" would
stare brooding into a vacuum.
Those of yott o have seen
„.rtheirr"eiogress realize that
now they can identify with a
future ... a new world.
We, the members ,of the
Board of the South }futon and
District Association for the
Mentally Retarded are at-
tempting in a small way to
work on your behalf to guide
the direction of ARC
Industries, assist with Huron
Hope School, the Nursery at
Alhambra Hall, Grand Bend
and the new residence in
Exeter.
At this season, then,
perhaps we can work
together to help these people
achieve their potential,
perhapsto join the gainfully
employed, to become tax-
payers,
axpayers, and to make their
own contribution to society.
Would you share your
"good luck" with them? Voir

Association, Box 29. Dash-
wood will be followed with an
official receipt for tax pur-
poses ... and; of course, our
thanks! •

An Old Fashioned
Christmas concert was held
at Hensall United Church on
Wednesday. December 15 and
created as much excitement
and . interest among both
children and .adults as it ever
did in years gone by.
The littlest ones performed
first and remembered their
• parts very well. What did it
matter if they forgot? There
was always a prompter
among the other performers !
Each class in turn
presented a number up
through the Sunday School
until vve reached the seniors.
Everyone was different and
reminded us of the different
aspects of Christmas.
Towards the end, the Senior
Citizens .contributed some old
songs, an instrumental, a
reading and carols. Not to be
forgotten .is a beautiful duet
by Mrs. Eric Luther and Mrs.
Nan Britten. And to crown the
whole evening. Santa arrived
and distributed candy and
fruit to all the good boys and
girls.
ACW meets
After entertaining at the
Queensway Nursing Home,
the regular meeting of the St.
Paul's ACW was held at the
home of Mrs. Forrest on
Wednesday afternoon.
The secretary, Helen
Roberts, read the minutes of
the previous meeting and
members answered the roll
call with a Christmas verse.
The president conducted the
business after which a bible
quiz was conducted. The
meeting closed with a prayer.
