In spite of the blustery weather, 19 mem- bers and one visitor were present. Linda Jones, president, led the members in repeating the Creed and the Lord's Prayer. A hunorous reading "A Visit from St. Nicholas to The Liberated Housewife" was enjoyed by all. Madelaine read the secretary's report and roll call was answered with "My Favourite Christmas Carol", followed by the treasurer's report. Norene Tebbutt will have the 'January meeting at her home on January 5th, Everyone please remember your card table and cards and lunch on December 28th when we will see some of Doug and Gertrude Feagan's slides. Show time is 8:30 p.m. The slate of officers for the next two -years was read as follows: president, Milena Lobb; 1st vice-president. Madelaine • Bartlett; secretary, Dianne Lobb; assistant, Linda Jones; buying committee, Harriett Tyndall, Marlene Forbes, Verna Lobb. The tneetingrlosed with the •IVIttpah Benediction, and the town ladies then took charge for a Christmas program. Poems readings and contests were enjoyed by all. An exchange of Christmas gifts was followed by the pot luck lunch provided bly the country ladies. • Notes YES it looks like winter is here. Everyone is busy clearing.their laneways to get out and finish their shopping. No one thought it could come this early. We went to Kin- cardine a week ago Sunday and after travelling about seven miles down blustm Highway 21, we went back to my mother's for the night. Three holstein heifers from the Murray Forbes barn were recently shipped to a far off country - Brazil. :cnneth- Wise and Blanch Deeves, with 'joking on of us into act of worship. Clarence and Jean Perdue and Edward and Blanche- Deeltes, enjoyed a smorgasbord supper celebrating their December anniversaries at the Bedford Hotel in Goderich. Sorry to - report Sarah Storey is in Clinton Public Hospital. Got well wishes are sent out to Sarah. We are happy to hear that Mr. Vander Haar is home again. Lois and Edward Wise opened their home Sunday, for a Christmas dinner for their families; Sandy, Dennis. Kelly and 'Cindy of Woodstock, Chris and Barb Cowan of Goderich and Mr and Mrs. Bert Rowden of Clinton. I would like to wish everyone a- very joyous -Christmas and thank everyone who kelps to keep the Middleton News in the paper.+ Blanche Deeves Christmas to me is having fun, giving and wrapping presents and putting up things before Christmas. • Decorating and putting the tree up tells me that Christmas is almost here. Then oh Christmas we open the presents and 1 canTierdly wait I can see what I -got. Then.' -like,to.mtCh everyone open the presents 1 got for them. and see if they like them. Then we go to my aunt's place and eat, and eat and eat. • You should also remember what Christmas is really all about, that is the birth of Christ. Thats what Christmas is all about. • -by Steve Paterson To me Christmas means giving clothes to the poor and giving and receiving presents. It is always exciting shopping for presents for other people and then hoping to keep them hiddeafroranny snoopers. Christmas has so many things which are brightly coloured such as bulbs, on houses and green decorated . Christmas trees with silver tinsel. I always have fun listening to my brother when he gifts excited about Christmas and seeing Santa uptown. Christi,usually means to -me also the birth of Christ which is im- portant and well-known to a lot of people. On Christmas Eve we have a pageant at our church and that is when we celebrate th6 birthday...ye always sing carols and have a play with Mary, SOseph, the Wisemen. shepherds and a doll which is Jesus in it. On Boxing Day we go to the .bone of my Aunt and Uncle's and all. my mother's brothers and sisters in laws and parents meet at someone's house and we exchange presents. 1 like very much going snow m obi Ling and then having the delicious meal. - by Ann Deichert.- When I h4ar the word Christmas. 1 automatically think of the birth of Jesus, decorating -the tree, buying lots of presents for people, opening presents, and eating Christmas dinner. Of all the special events through the year. I like Christmas the best. I like. buying presents for people and hoping that they will like them. The only thing 1 wish I had more of. is money to buy people more expensive presents. Christmas morning, I like to sneak down and see what Santa put in my stocking. You get all kinds of neat things in it. I like to see the presents that I gave being opened and seeing if the family liked what I chose. Usually I'm too excited to eat breakfast because our family will be going to our cousins' house. I like to look nice when 1 go there. Sometimes 1 get so excited tivat Use -1M -find-- Lanything to, -,Wear, bat -in- the end 1 always find: something nice to wear. After breakfast our house is really busy trying toget ready to go. 1 really enjoy seeing all my relatives at Christmas. Most af therrbtive in Toronto. so we don't see them very much, but on Christmas we usually see everyone. 1 love the Christmas, especially the? turkey. Christmas is the time of year you put on so much weight because there are so many goodies -to eat.
