Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Berdan from Union, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Payne from Tillsonburg, Mr. Glen Payne with brown gravy; mashed' potatoes or french fries; buttered Mexican corn. Sam Oesch on Monday. 4-H Clut The sixth meeting of the Barley Buddies !Jensen 14-I Club was held at Karen Volland's house on Tuesday,, November Z at 8 p.m. Roll call was answered by naming a free choice cereal. We made hot-water gingerbread. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Tinney's house on November 9. The fourth meeting of Hensall III 4-H Club, the Toasted Oats was held at Mrs. Bisback's home and consisted of the-conclusion4f meetings three and four, and included practical work, demonstrations and eating. The members tasted wheat germ, roasted soya bean and natural peanut butter (no flavourings) and prepared samples of arrowroot, starch and flaxseed. They also tasted cherry -bran squares and jam muffins. +++ The fifth meeting of the Bran Muppets, (Hensall 2) was held on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Pepper. Seven girls answered the roll call with "three things I have learned about flour". Mrs. Pepper iiemonstrated how to cook pasta, using noodles. For discussion we talked about around the world cereals and learned over eleven different ways to use cereals. The popular pastas macaroni,. spaghetti and noodles _ were discussed. Brenda Pepper, 'assisted by some of the girls, made tomato meat sauce which combines very well with spaghetti. Mrs. Pepper made a ham noodle casserole which was enjoyed by all. A special thanks goes to 10 girls from the three 441 Clubs who did a very worthwhile job selling poppies in the village on Saturday. Livestock sales Demand at the Hensall Livestock Sales was active and prices were steady last Thursday. The supply con- sisted mainly of heifers and steers. ` Fat cattle: heifers, $37.50- S42.25; steers 539.50-$42.50. Hensel Branch Places Wreaths The Hensall Branch of the Canadian Legion marched to the Cenotaph on Sunday at 10 a.m. to place wreaths at the monument.. Rev. Don Beck of the Hensalt United Church officiated. The wreath for the Province of Ontario was placed by Edwin Taylor, the Canadian Legion Branch by Grant McClinchey; Ladies Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Beatrice Uyl; Town of Hensall, Reeve John Baker; Township of Tuckehsmith, Reeve Elgin Thompsob; Township of Hay, Reeve John Tinney, L.C.B.O., Garnet Allan; Bendix Home System, Andy Imanse Kinsmen and Kinettes. David Smale; Bank of Montreal; Eric Luther; and Bank of Com- merce. Mrs. Homer Camp- bell. Lisa Hammather recited "In Flanders Fields". The party marched to the Hensall United Church where Rev. `Don Beck was -in -charge of the _service. Following the ser- vice the Legion members, ladies and friends met at the Legion Hall for brunch and a social hour. A Remembrance Day Dinner will be served in the Legion Hall on Friday November 12 at 7:30 p.m. when Robert McKinley M.P. will be the guest speaker. Queensway News Visitors at the Queensway Nursing Home were Hazel McNaughton with her mother Mrs. Ada Smillie. Pearl Passmore and Sid Pullman with Bernice Lavery. Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Pooley, Exeter visited several friends at the home. Visitors with Louise Mit- chell were Mrs. Edna Anderson, Exeter; Mr. and Mrs. Denroache, Camp Borden; and Leslie Mitchell, Crediton. Mrs. Pauline Jeffrey was visited by Edmund Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greenan, Blanche Bechard, Darlene Stumpf, and Mr. and Mrs. Clemence Jeffrey. Mrs. Monk, Mrs. Timmermans and. diughter Elaine, Mrs. Neevel, Mrs. Brand, and tirs. Wynja of Bethel Reform Church entertained the residents on Monday at Bingo and Music. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sararus of T Toronto. visited with relatives in Hensall on the weekend. Mrs. Eric Munroe of Seaforth was a recent visitor with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mrs. Jack Corbett is spending a week with her son- in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaffe and sons and new baby daughter at Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker returned home after spending a few days with Cpl. Doug Wein, Mrs. Wein and David in Whitby. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Munn have taken up residdhce at the apartment at 92 Brock Street. The ladies of Carmel Presbyterian Church held a most successful Fall Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday. The tables were laden with a good supply of home baking, produce and sewing. The Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary were in charge of the tea and refreshments. Rev. W. D. Jarvis con- ducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday delivering an in- spiring message in keeping with "Remembrance" season. The choir under the direction of Mrs. Malcom Dougall led in the service of song. GLADYS MAY GARLAND Gladys May Garland, formerly of Goderich, died Monday, November 8 at Calgary. She was 76. She was born in Paisley December 1, 1899 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Blue. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer Anson (Darby) Garland July 13, 1967 in Goderich. She is survived by two sons, James of Calgary and Lloyd, R.R. 5, Clinton; five gran- dchildren; five great gran- dchildren and one sister Mrs. Anne Stanley of Timmins. Service will be conducted at. Stiles Funeral Horne Goderich and 'interment will. follow at Maitland Cemetery. Arrangements are in- complete and times were not available.
