The Ontario Government has
proclaimed the first weelc, of November
Energy Conservation Week in order to
increase public awareness of the need to
conserve energy. An increased public
awarenessshould StitUu.late people to
take steps to reduce th,IF-imergy biHs
this winter.
We hope that the savings that can be
made will utlmately add "up to a billion
duller reduction in the Province's
overall energy hill by 1980.

energy conservation for personal and

largest energy consumer in
the home, usually accounting
for over half of the total
household energy budget,
let's look briefly at some
possible energy savings in
this area. Out of all the
measures mentioned in this
supplement, furnace
maintenance, insulation and
temperature setback are
probably the most
significant.
Keep in mind that actual

wasting energy.

rewarding the consumer,
such savings will conserve
Canadian energy sources for
future use, lower the
tremendous costs of resource
development, reduce the
environmental impact of
energy and help to provide a
better quality of life for us all.
