Young Powell had fired two or three shots, when -according to the statements of an eye witness named Shoebotbom, a son of the lender of the gun --Willie raised the weapon to his shoulder to shoot again, when the barrel burst and he fell to the ground. Help was summoned, and the unfortunate lad was removed to 'the Powell homestead, where he died in about two hours after the accident. An. exainination skr,vetl. that his face, neck an'd'arinS were much disfigured with pow der, while..a,screw from the lock of the gun was blown into his .brain, inflicting the injury which caused his death. It WAS' discovered also that the slibt from the gun had killed the bird at which the boy had aimed.
