School board approved in a
recorded vote of 7 to 5
Monday the preparation of a
resolution to the Ministry of
Education pointing out the
deficiencies in the present
legislation concerning elected
representatives on the board.
In the redistribution of
school board members an-
nounced earlier this month,
the City of Stratford lost a
representative and the large
rural area around Wingham
gained- one. This evened up
the representttihfrom each
county, giving -Huron and
Perth each seven board
,members.
Speaking for the four
members from Stratford,

Howard Shantz said, One of
us will be missing next year."
Mr. Shantz said they didn't
have a leg to stand on to
appeal the redistribution this
year, but wanted the brief
sent to express their concern
about what might happen in
the future as a result of the
proposed property tax reform
plan by the government.
Jack- Lane, superintendent
of business, suggested it
might be prudent to wait and
see what the decision of
government might be in the
proposed property tax reform
plan as there appeared tri be
considerable opposition to it,
before sending in resolution
from the board.
Stratford trustee Ronald
Marcy insisted that a brief
should be presented as soon
as possible to express the

Warden J.L. McCutcheon,
Reeve of Brussels, and Anson
McKinley, Reeve of Stanley
Township, were named.- by
Huron County Council on
Friday to serve as'
representatives on the
A Regional Citizens Committee
o€ Ontario Hydro.
Ontario Hydro had
requested that Huron County
recommend two delegates for
appointment to -a "Regional
Citizens Committee, to
participate in the planning
process by reviewing . the
need for electric power in the
area.
This area will probably
include Huron, Perth.
Wellington and Waterloo
County
The committee is expected
to meet as often as twice a
month for six months to a
year.
Ontario Hydro had
suggested that possibly the
.Planning Director and the
Development, officer could
serve on the committee as
Huron representatives but
the councillors chose instead
to name two of their own as
representatives, noting
however that the Planning
Director and Development
Officer would be available fort
opinions and consultation if
required.
Council also named Warden
John L. McCutcheon as the
County representative to
serve on the Board of
Directors for the Huron
Centre for Children and
*Youth.
The advisory and
nominating committee of the
Centre for Children and
Youth had asked that the
County designate one of its
members as a represen-
tative.
The executive committee
received approval for a
recommendation that the
Huron County Housing
Authority be authorized to
use the County Crest on their
letter head as the Authority
had requested.
At the March 1976 session of
County Council a by-law was
passed providing for . ap-
portionments to be paid to the
County of Huron by two equal
instalments due June 30 and
December 15, cotj-nencingin
1976 with penalties and
discounts set out as required
by the Municipal Act.
Acting on a recom-
mendation of the Executive
Committee, the council set
down on Friday just what
criteria would be used to
determine the-- amount of
discount or penalty payment.
The date the cheque is
actually received in the office
of the County Clerk Treasurer
will be used in determining
the amount of discount or
penalty, not the date when the
cheque was 'mailed or post-
marked.
Three business days of
grace, excluding Saturdays,
Sundays and holidays, will be
allowed in making the
determination.

might happen.
