Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Horton
and family returned home
after holidaying for two
Weeks - with cousins in
Alberta.
Mr. Herbert (Bert) Horton
has recently retired from the
Dominion Auiomobile
Association after many years
Of service. Mr. Horton was
held in high regard not only
by the Association but by his
members alike. Mr. Charles
Wilson has been appointed -to
enroll new members and look
after the former agency of
Mr. Horton.
Mrs.Beer has
returned -to her home after
holidayingfor a number° of
weeks with her daughter and
son-in-law and family Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph MacArthur in
Edmonton and also with her
grandson David Beer, RCMP
and Mrs, Beer in British
Columbia.
Little Jodi Horton returned
to her home after holidaying
with her grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Horton.
Mrs. Bert Wray and family
of Rexdale visited last week
with Mr. and Mrs. George
Parker and family.
Shower for bride -elect
Mrs. Wayne McBride and
Julie were hostesses at their
home on Wednesday in
honour of Miss Cindy Parker
bride -elect of this month.
The room was tastefully
decorated for the occasion.
Games and contests were
enjoyed by all after whichthe
guest of honour was
presented with many
miscellaneous gifts. A social
hour was spent when refresh-
ments were served by the
hostesses.
Miss Judy Mickle returned
this week to Waterloo
University to resume h
studies there for the fall terra.
Miss Sharon Riley of
London, formerly of Hensall,
spent Friday visiting with
Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Miss Linda Bell left this
Week for Guelph University
where she has enrolled for the
fall term.
Miss Pamella Mickle
returned from Vancouver
Hospital, B.C. where she has
been employed for the
summer months. Pamela
left this week to resume her
studies at Western Univer-
sity, London.

Lodge for the ensuing term,
assisted by Mrs. Hazel

absence of the Vice Grand

Mrs. Margaret Consitt, Jr.
P.N.G. gave a detailed report
of the District meeting held in
Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter
in June. "Thank -you" notes
were received from Mrs.
Ruby Bell and Mrs. Beatrice
Richardson. The recording
secretary Mrs. Leona Parke
read the report submitted by
the D.D.P. Mrs. Irene Har-
nack, Goderich onter year's
activities and the visitin
repiirt was given by the Nrible
Grand.
Mrs. A ldeen
representative, and Mrs.
Margaret Consitt, scholar
who attended the 'Rebekah
Assembly sessiop m Toronto
in June, presented interesting
reports on meetings.
"Birthdpay greetings" were
extended to Annie Reid,
Evelyn MacBeath and Olga
Ch,ipchase. Following the
Meeting a delicious "pot
luck" luncheon was enjoyed
in the lower hall.

"Grewing Old Gracefeilly"
was the study theme for the
September UCW meeting in
Varna, Mrs. Itobt. Stirling
opened the meeting with a
poem "How Old is Old". Ida-
tilcClitwhey led the worship
and study, beginning with the
poem "Time".
Doris Wilspn, dressed as a
frail old lady, gave a very
moving reading of
"Biography of an Old Woman
in a Nursing Home". Shirley
Hill read a poem "Shut In"
and Florence Elliott read
"Beatitudes for the Old".
The Fall Regional meeting
will be in Northside United
Church, Seaforth, on
Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. Miss
gamy Hardy, mission study
editor, will be the guest
speaker, and Doris McKinley
will provide special music.
Members were reminded of
the church anniversary on
Sept. 19 with Rev. Geo. Goth
as speaker. The anniversary
supper will be ,held on Oct. 6.

John's, they were talking by
telephone with Mrs. Pitts,
who asked them to bring
greetings to her friends in this
area.

visited for a couple of days
recently -with Mr. and Mrs.
Wilmer Reid.
