Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook and Diana returned home on Monday night from three days in Toronto and visited Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Shobbreok, Kim and Cindy at Galt. On Tuesday, they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Millson and family, Woodstock. Through the other weeklies by Shelley McPhee Mother Nature .showed her fury once more and last week the Blyth area was the recipient of a freak storm. The Blyth Standard reported that the storm' blew through town last Thursday evening leaving a torn path of fallen trees and general upheaval. Although there was little property damage, Murray Siertsema's large driving shed was picked .up and returned to the ground upside down some 250 feet away from its original location. About two dozen trees were ripped apart in the storm and although fallen branches lay everywhere, no injuries were incurred. Zurich people breathed the sigh of relief on Saturday as the weather remained calm for their bean festival. Some 10,000 bean lovers swarmed into the village and quickly devoured most of the food. What little food that was left over was reheated and dished out ,on Monday for those who hadn't received their fill. Exeter is looking for great support from their town- speople as the town council called for tenders for the South Huron Recreation Centre last weekend. The Exeter Times -Advocate reported that some 590,000 has already been raised and a door-to-door canvass is now underway to reach the estimated $900,000 goal. Goderich has not been as lucky in their attempts to raise money for their `arena repairs. The Signal -Star reported that lack of funds has forced the building committee to abandon their plans for an addition of a board room and offices at the cost of 5430,000. Fund raising efforts are now back to the original plan to -replacing the arena roof at the cost of 5130,000. Brussels took another giant step last week towards the annexation of five acres of Grey Township. The Brussels Post explained that the Ontario Municipal Board approved a request to develop a 56 home residential area last week. The town council viewed the proposed plans for the first time last week and are quite pleased and op- timistic about the project.. The symposium is by in- 'vitation only to a limited number of professionals, theologians., senior members of life insurance companies and cancer research per- sonnel, from across Canada.
