fourth round of the Border
Cup when they Meet Stratford
here tonight at 7 p.m.
(Thursday).

The Huron Flyers, com-
posed of boysfrom all over
Huron County. finished
seventh out of 94 teams who
entered the. Cup and a a
*eligible as one of the top
teams to enter the fourth
round.
Ontario has never been
represented in the Border,
Cup Quarter Finals by a team
outside of Toronto or Wind-
sor, but the Flyers are strong
favorites to break this ten-
year monopoly.

Soccer club ties Ingersoll

Clinton Soccer Club played
to a 2-2 tie in a weekend game
against the Ingersoll Flyers
at the Clinton Park.

lots of hustle and deter-
mination.
Ingersoll however took the
lead after 20 minutes play
from a free kick outside the
18 -yard line.
Clinton came right back to
tie the score when Bill
Cantelon shot one into the top
of the net out of reach of the
Ingersoll keeper.
The score remainded tied
Ramb1insfrom the races.

winner in 2:04.2 at Green-
wood on August 10.
Rannoch Ray N. was

Tar Daw Duke, owned by

was third with driver Nelson
White in a division of the
Ontario Sires Stakes for
three-year-old pacers going
for over $2,000 . on Friday
night.
Merrywood Hoot, a four-
year-old trotter owned by
Nancy Holmes of Clinton, got
his first lifetime win in 2:07.4
on August 14.
Dennis Jewitt had a win
with Bold Tar Heel for Franc
Stroop of Fordwich at
Flamboro in 2:08.3.
Rossland Abbe, owned by
Joe McDaid of Goderich, was
a winner in 2:07.1.
At Goderich on Thursday
night, Claybrook Kaola was a
winner in 2:09.3 with driver
Clarence Young up. John
Muir finished second with
Jarvis Counsel for Les
Campbell of Seaforth. Peter

of the year for John Muir of
Seaforth. He also has two,
seconds and one third from 14
starts this year.
Margie's Girl, by Excel
Knight -Margie Duke, won her
division of the Ontario Sires
Stakes for three-year-old
pacing fillies. This gives her
over $30,000 from 11 starts
this year with four wins, two
seconds and two thirds. She is
owned by Ken Parke of
Zurich ,and _John H. Lester of
Forest and was driven by
John C. Lester.
Saturday night at Hanover,
Movie Maker Jack was third
with Robert Faulds for the
Big Eight Stables of Clinton.
C. D. Dust finished second
at Dresden for owners Frank
and Gerry Johnston of
'Goderich .
Quick Almahurst was
fourth with Ken Hardy, for

Clinton continued to press
and had some good chances to
increase their lead but had no
luck round the Ingersoll goal
mouth.
Ten minutes from the end,
Ingersoll tied the game when
once again, the Clinton
defence failed to clear a loose
ball and it was scrambled into
the net by the alert Ingersoll
centre.
Clinton now holds sixth
place in the 10 team league
with a total of 10 points from
12 games.
The home team should
increase their points total this
Sunday when they meet last
place Portuguese at the arena
field.

Bluebirds play in
Zurich tourney
Saturday August 21, the
Bluebirds will take the field
against the Lucan Irish 9 in
the Zurich Men's Invitational
fastball tournament at 9:30
a.m.
The Bluebirds, are the
defending champions of the
Clinton Industrial fastball
league " and are in sole
possession _ of first place in
this year's play.
The tournament entrants
are made of industrial and
recreational teams from the
surrounding area. Elmira,
Brussels, Walton, Goderich,
Lucan, Zurich, Exeter and
the Bluebirgs of Clinton will
round out a double knockout
kchedule with games being
played in Zurich on Saturday
August 21.
