The deceased spent her early years in Hensall moving to the west following her marriage. Surviving is her husband, one daukhter and two sons. (Photo by James Fitzgerald). Gladys E. Gourley (Askin) Mrs. Gladys E. Gourley (Askin) of RR 1, Londesboro passed away in the Clinton Public Hospital on Tuesday. August 10, 1976 in her 70th year. She was born in Toronto on May 10, 1907 to Mr. and MrS. William Midgly. Mrs. Gourley was predeceased by two husbands, William John Gourley (1964) and William Earl Askin (1936). She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Victor and Mary Askin of Ottawa; William and Verna Askin of Agincourt and a step daughter, Ilene (Mrs. Reginald Mew) of Acton. - She-4ill be greatly missed but always remembered by her grandchildren Christopher and Victoria of Ottawa; Janice and grand, son-in-law Gerald af Agin- court and Mary Jane and John of Acton. Mrs. Gourley worked for Bell Canada in Toronto for 22 years. She belonged to the Lon- desboro United Church and took an active part in Church .affairs. She was treasurer of the church and to the minister. Mrs. Gourley was also involved with the Berean Unit UCW and was -a past - president of the UCW ; was a member of the Londesboro Choir; past -president of the Women's Institute; member of the Huronview Auxiliary and was the Londesboro United Church's United Church Observer representative: Mrs. Gourley was also treasurer of the mission's committee. She was employed with Radford's Garage in Lon- desboro. Funeral services were held at the Beattie Funeral Home. Clinton on Saturday. August 14, 1976 with Reverend Stan McDonald officiating. Interment followed in the Clinton Cemetery. Pallbearers were her five grandchildren: Rick Askin; Chris Askin: John Mew; Gerald and Michael Draper and Lester Green. Miss Aphra L. Steepe Miss Aphra L. Steepe died August 9. 1976 at Huronview, the county home for the aged. She was 90 years of age. Miss Steepe. formerly of Clinton, was born September 15. 1885 to George and Katherine Steepe in Goderich Township. She lived in Goderich Township and Clinton all her life. Miss Steepe was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. 306 and St. Paul's LadiesGuild. She was also a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church. She was predeceased by two brothers, Milton and Harry Steepe. A Rebekah Lodge service was held on August 11, and the funeral was held Thur- sday, August 12 at the Beattie Funeral Home Clinton, with Rev. S. Sharpies officiating. A most enjoyable afternoon of visiting and reminiscing was enjoyed by all present. Dr. and Mrs. Addison are now retired and living in Midland. Dr. Addison was a United Church minister serving many yea-rs in Ntirthern Ontario and also at Centennial Church in London. Mrs. Addison was raised in Holmesville and Clinton and was a very active partner with her husband in their church work.
