Heritage Tour in Bayfield
The Heritage House Tours
take place in Bayfield today.
The tours depart from Clan
Gregor Square in Bayfield on
foot at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
today.
Five historic Bayfield
houses will be open for the
public to view as they take a
walking tour around the
village.
These will include Gordon
House, Clan Gregor Square at
Louisa, built in 1858 for
Donald Gordon. Since then
there's been little alteration,
except on the interior, and the
present owner is Mrs.
William Metcalf.
Camborne House on Main
Street was built in the early
1880's by Trinity Anglican
Church for its rector. There
has been no exterior
alteration.
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Westlake, on Main
Street, which •incorporates
the Only bank in Bayfield, will
be open for the tour. In the
1930's the bank area was the
Bayfield post office.
At the corner of Susan and
Main Streets is the Gairdner
house, now owned by Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Rogers. Built in
1856 as a home, general store
and post office, the building
was owned by the Gairdner
family until the Rogers'
bought it at auction in 1974.
Further along Main Street
is the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ed. Oddleifson, originally a
grocery store and ice cream
Missionaires
parlour.
Tea will be served after the
tour at The Hut, the home of
Mrs. Carl Diehl. Tickets cost
$3 per person and are
available at the Huron
Historic Gaol. All proceeds
will finance the Huron County
Branch of the Architectural
Conservancy.

on furlough
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
McDonald spoke at the
regular Prayer Service,
Wednesday night at the
Bayfield 9 Baptist Church.
They are Missionairies on
furlough from Trans World
Radio, at Bonaire, a tiny
island off the coast of
Venezuela. They are
presently residing in
Woodstock but return to the
field. August 13.
They showed slides, with
sound, of their work. Trans
World Radio have five
stations` that can reach many
parts of the world that are not
open to Missionaries. Their
children attend the Dutch
School at Bonaire, but study
in English two nights a week.
This is a great work and
much appreciated by those
Christians who are not free to
Worship as they please.
