Cheerio
Mrs_ Ida Townsend was
hostess to the Cheerio Club on
Wednesday. July 24 when
they met at her home at 2
p.rn. The group then travelled
to The Mill in Benmiller
where they had lunch, and
held their meeting on the
lovely fawns.

visited on Sunday. July 11
with Mr. -and Mrs. Fred
Youngbiut at Woodstock. _
Mr. and Mrs. Len Caldwell
were guests at her niece's
wedding, Abbatt and Hep-
burn- on Saturday at the
Merton United Church with a
reception at the Ilderton

with his mother and called on
her Wednesday. July 28 when
leaving for holidays.

Minutes of the last meeting
were read by secretary,
Jewel Cowan. A card of
thanks was received from
Mary Longman and roll call
was answered by 10 members
and three visitors, Edyth
Beacon, Dorothy Little ` and
Jessie Jones.
Ida Durnin was in charge of
the readings. It was decided
that the August meeting will
be held on August 25 at the
home of Tri Duizer. The
group then toured the
grounds and returned home
with a scenic drive, through
Colborne Township.

18 after spending 16 days in
Clinton Hospital having had
surgery,

Marys Hospital in St. Marys.

Results .of the ball games
played on Monday. July 19
saw the Benmiller team
beating the older boys by a
score of 9-4. On Tuesday; July
10 the older girls played
against Benmiller and lost 23-

Auburn won against the
ladies team on Tuesday, July
20 to the tune of 14-5. Auburn
won again, 9-6 on Wednesday.
July 21 against the older boys
by 9-6.
In the House League the
Thirteenth lost to to Kinburn
2241 and on Thursday, Jt 'y
22 the Ninth played againkst
Londeshciro and won 26-12.

In attendance at the pinn
ing ceremony of Mrs. Bette
Jewitt of the Woodstock
Schtiol of Nursing on Thur-
sday. July 22 and held at the
New St. Paul's Anglican
Church in Woodstock, were
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Snell. Also attendinahe
ceremonies were Mr. and
Mrs. Allan Bostnan of Lon-
desboro and Miss Bonnie
Jewitt of Clinton. Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Snell also attended
the graduation banquet and
dance on Friday evening held
at the Oxford Community
Centre
Mrs. Louise Daniel of
Grimsby is presently visiting
relatives in the area. After
spending several days with
Mrs. Laura Forbes. she
visited at the home of her
nephew. Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Snell and family over the
weekend.
Lions plan exchange
Friday at noon. the Clinton
Lions Club will be hosting 54
youths from 16 different
countries.
The youths are part of
Lions District A-9 exchange
program and are visiting host
Lions Club families. from
Brantford to Wiarton.
Since Monday. all the ex-
change youths have been
camping at Wildwood Park in
St. Mary's and on their- way to
tour the salt mine in Goderich
and the Bruce Nuclear Power
Development, on Friday they
will be stopping at the Clinton
Ausable Conservation Park
for a picnic. which the Clinton
Lions are catering.
After camping a week in
Wildwood Park. the students
will go back to their
respective Lions Club
families. The Lions Club
exchange program lasts from
four to six weeks depending
on where the exehange
person comes from. All the
youths have spent at least a
week already at their Lidns
Club homes.
This is the second con-
secutive year. the exchange
program has been underway
in the A-9 district and any
interested persons between
the ages of 16 and 21 apply.
All that's needed is the air
fare between here and the
place a person chooses. The
Lions Club will take care of
finding a host.
Eugene McAdam of the
Clinton Lions Club says in-
terested persons should start
applying around September,
for an exchange. next sum-
mer.
