On Sunday. JU1y .S, more
than fifty persons gathered at.
Harbor Park. Goderich for
the Murray picnic. The
weather was ideal and
although attendance was -
down somewhat, there was
just as much enthusiasm.
The reunion Was organized
in 1938 when the group met at
Bright's Grove near Sarnia
because it was centrally
located. Even so, travelling in
a Model A Ford through the
water -holes of the pinery was
More difficult than twice the
distance now.
The picnic has been held
annually since that time
pt for a few years during
rld War II.
Family members were
present from Ottawa, Sault
Ste. Marie. and Waterdown,
Wallaceburg, Wellesley,
Seaforth. Varna and
Goderich in Huntington Woods
Ontario
Warre s
and Royal Oak. Michigan.
The oldest lady attending
this year was Mrs. Relle
Reid, Varna; the oldest
gentleman, Elmore
Stephenson, Seaforth; the
youngest girl Andrea Imanse
of Goderich; and the
youpgest boy. Sean
McClinchey. Wellesley. The
family coining the greatest
distance was Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Reid from Sault Ste.
Marie.
The person with the largest
family present was Mrs.
Belle Reid. Varna. The one
with a birthday closest to the
date of the picnic was Laurie
Clark; Huntington Woods,
Mich. and those celebrating a
wedding anniversary closest
to that date were Mr. and
Mrs. Pete Imanse, Goderich.
Noon and evening meals
were enjqyed by all and the
band concert in the park was
an added attraction. It was
decided to hold the picnic on
'the fourth Sunday of July next
year at Harbour Park,
