Shobbrook Reunion The Shobbrook 41st annual union was held on Sunday, ly 4 at the Seaforth Lion's ub Park with ap- oximately 50 in attendance. A lovely lunch in a buffet le was served and a iriute's silence was held in mory of those who have ssed away. President old Crich conducted the eeting and the minutes of st year's reunion and new siness was discussed. It was moved by Cliff Saun- dercock that the 1977 reunion be held at the Seaforth Lion's Club Park on the Sunday closest to July 1. The new officers elected were: honourary president. Harold and Rose Crich: president, Bill and Joan Crawford: vice-president, Ross and Muriel Wilson: secretary. Clarence and Mayme Crawford: and in charge of refreshments, Melvin and Barbara Knox, and Gordon and Cindy Swan. In charge of sports will be Charlie and Shirley Shob- brook and the nominating committee will be looked after by Gordon and Darlene Shobbrook. At this reunion, sports were conducted by Jerry and Nancy, Crich. Scptt Crich won in the races for the preschoolers and Shelley Crawford won in the girls six to eight age group. In the boys 10 to 13 age group, Frank Ellerby was first. and Dean Shobbrook took second place. In the girls 10 to 14 age group-, -Diana . Shobbrook won in hitting the prize off the table. Cliff Saundercock and Rick Swan won first prize in the men's kick the slipper and Janice' Snell and Shirley Snell won for the ladies. Mary Lynn Peck's team won in the ladies hammer the nail contest and Cliff Saun- dercock's team won the fill the cup. gale. Kaye 'Saun- dercock guessed "the number of nails in the jar, and Stan Shobbrook guessed the length of the rope. Travelling the farthest ' to the reunion was Edna Stimber of Pildet Mound, Manitoba.. The oldest to at- tend was 82 year old, Laura Saundercock and the youngest was 10 month old Kristen Crawford. Pere and Vera Gibbings were married the longest, 49 years and a peanut scramble was enjoyed by everyone. WI Blyth guests The WI meeting washeld on Wednesday, July 14 in the church hall. President, Dora Shobbrook welcomed all the special guests from Blyth. The roll call was answered by 29 members. and 16 guests. Minutes of the last meeting Starting Thursday, July 22. Alice Buchanan volunteered to have something for the craft table at the WI Area Convention. A list of the eligible products of Canada Packers label are to be collected and handed out. A report of the committee's cards and flowers were given by Vi Burns and the bus trip to Toronto was given by Marjorie Duizer. Plans for the trip on August 18 are to visit Casa Loma, the Science Centre and the Scarborough Civic Centre. The cost of the trip will be 810 for the 41 passengers. It is hoped that members. will make quilt blocks for the Eari'ard Lie home. Musical selections in the program were by .Elizabeth Gibson and Judy and Barbara Cater. A skit was presented by Dora Shoblook, Hattie Wood and Addie Hunlc ing,and.. two accordian solos were given by Karen Middegaal. Margaret Taylor in- troduced the guest speaker. Mrs. Ken Mitchell (Mary Buchanan) and she spoke on her trip to Kenya with her husband, after he finished his Masters Degree in England. She showed "''pictures taken there and also in Tanzania. They were enjoyed -by all and she was thanked by Marjorie Anderson and presented her with a gift. After the meeting was closed a penny sale was held by the financial committee, Marjorie Anderson, Beryl Reid and Addie Hunking. They had a wide variety of items on display. Lunch was then served by Margaret Taylor. June Fothergill, Margaret Anderson and Helen Lawson and the Blyth president, Luella McGowan thanked the Londesboro WI for the evening. Personals Mrs. Gladys Gourley was transferred from Victoria Hospital in London to the Clinton Public Hospital on Tuesday. July 13. We are sorry to report that she is still an the serious list. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Crawford, Steven and Carol of Ottawa and Mr. Nelson Lear of Huronview visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lear. Danny and dr David. They are spending this week at the cottage in Bayfield. Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Avellett of Detroit spent the weekend of July 11 with Mrs. • Laura Saudercock. Mrs. Wendell Grant (Peggy Pickett) of Port Colborne - visited on July 10 at her aunt, Mrs. G. Cowan and also with her aunt, Mrs. G. Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. John Picket of Trenton visited on Sunday. July 4 with his aunt. Mrs. Gordon Robinson. .. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fothergill and family spent Saturday and Sunday. July 17 and 18 visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl McLean of St. Catharines and also went to Marineland and Game Farm in,Niagara Falls. Mrs. Orville Newby was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital on Friday for a series of tests on her heart. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shob- brook spent the weekend in Woodstock with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Millson and family. Visitors on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Sewers and family were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Humberstone of Dauphen, Manitoba. Visiting on Sunday With Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lear and boys a were Mr. and Mrs. George -Underwood of Wingham. Miss Doris Lear of Burlington and Mrs. Elsie Chellow of Huronview. Mrs. Eugene St. Louis and Paul returned home last Tuesday from a week's vacation at Parry Sound and Parry Island with Mrs. Preston Dallas and Joan. They camped on the island with relatives of Mrs. Dallas. On Thursday. Mrs. Eugene St. Louis and Paul visited in Windsor with her mother and daughter Sheila. Saturday morning Paul and his sister left for a two week vacation to tour the state of Florida and Disney World. Mrs. St. Louis returned home on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. George Smith and Mr. -and Mrs. Eugene St. Louis attended the 25th an- niversary show at Ayton, Ontario, of the old CK NX Barn Dance and stayed for the dance. This is the Foresters 97th year and they presented the Canadian Cancer Fund with a cheque for 597,000 for cancer research. Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Lawson. John and Elizabeth spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Warren at their cottage at Lions Head. ,. Jim Thompson.
