It's disheartening to see
that voluntary sport along
with its dedication involving
the family in some way or
another. has sunk to a very
low ebb.
Something went wrong with
our junior girls softball team.
yet we can't blame the girls.
About 25 girls or more
,,,eagerly► await their games on
'Tuesday uesday night. but they're
never sure of a coach or
driver. Most importantly,
they need a parent to look
after the teams and schedule
the drivers.
However, hope is still in
sight, coachwise. for another
coach was expected to start
on Tuesday night.
Last Tuesday, July 13. the
A and B teams combined to
play Stanley Township, losing
36-34. The girls appreciated
the rides provided and 15
year-old Leanne Bell for
coaching. Everyone knows
that it's much too big a job to
manage 25 to 30 girls, some
only two years younger than
Leanne. She sure deserves a
medal for trying.
Now the senior girls soft-
ball group are the lucky ones!
They have two enthusiastic
and dedicated coaches.
Arnold and Walter Bell. The
girls beat Colborne at Ben -
miller on Tuesday, July 13
with the score ending at 11-9.
Stars of the game were.. Lynn
Wraith in field#tdPat-Harris'
as catcher.
Those new sweaters did not
make their appearance$ due
to a printing delay. Perhaps
this week they will get a
chance to sport their new
outfits. .
Stanley couldn't muster up
a team for a game so, the
junior boys game was can-
celled last week.
Steve 'Thompson and
Wayne Tebbutt's senior boys
played Auburn In Holmesville
on Monday. July 19 and won 9-
7: Jeff Cox pitched the whole
game. Nice going, boys:

visiting Huron County
By Shelley McPhee
Diana Brand, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Corneles Brand
of RR 3, Clinton, will be kept
busy this week entertaining
her 4-H Club guest from
Windsor, Nova Scotia.
Dianna is one of four young
people from the northern part
of Huron county who are
taking part in the 4-H ex-
change program.
Diana and her guest, Cindy
Northup will be going to
several- activities set up for
the delegates. On Tuesday
evening a "Welcome to Huron
.County'party was held at the
Clinton High School. The
young people first went for a
swim at the Clinton pool and
then were entertained with
dancing and refreshments at
the school.
It was
a chance for
everyone to meet and ex-
change observations of
Ontario. Cindy. who has
never been to Ontario before
was quite surprised to see
such flat land, compared to
the rolling countryside of her
home province.
On July 25 the 4-H Council
will take the delegates and
their hosts on a Progressive'
Dinner Party. This dinner
party will start at the north
part of the county and will
end in the southern part. The
delegates wilt get a chance to
see some of the countryside.
On July 26, Cindy and the
other three delegates will be
hosted by young 4-H mem-
bers in the southern part of
Huron County and they will
be returning home with some
of the Ontario young people
for the second half of the
exchange program.
Diana will be among
another group who will be
travelling to Pennsylvania as
part of the program. Earlier
in the summer the Penn-
sylvania 4H delegates were
entertained here.
The exchange program is a
new venture for the Huron 4-
H Council and they hope to
continue the inter -provincial
exchanges in 1977.
