(photo by MIlvena Erickson) ' D Lions Activities The president of the Lions ub, Ken Mcilveen and his Wife Carol, along with Alden King and his wife Velma, drove Valerie Anderson of Vanastra, to Rochester New York on Sunday, in order for her to attend a four-week training program at the Leader Dog School for the Blind. Valerie will be given a ,clog and instructed as to its handling. Mr. Mcllveen reported that they were given a tour through the school and that 90 per cent of the ✓operational eXpense for running the school is funded by the Lions. International. Valerie's " trip was spon- red by the Vanastra and 'istrict- Lions Club,and she Will be returning to Vanastra t August with her leader dog. + + + The winner of the $200 jack - on Friday evening was r. Diane Black Vanastra Community Association The Fire Dance sponsored by the Vanastra Community Association on July 10, in place of Hospitality Night, proved to be an outstanding success. Music was provided by Dee Jays of London. The Association's next Hospitality Night will be August 14, with music super plied by Dee Jays Unlimfetl. These dances are not for Vanastra residents only, and everyone is welcome. So come out and join in the fun. The Association is at present planning a beef barbecue and corn roast, followed by a dance, to be held in September. Further details will appear in this column. Vanastra Fire Department The Vanastra Fire Emergency Unit has been purchased and is in the process of being outfitted with some of the necessary -imago profitable for focal proprietor Joe Atkinson of Clinton rown Lanes happily ocketed $1,000 on Monday ening at the Clinton ouster Bingo. Also splitting 850 pots were: Janet Daer of Goderich, Mrs. Jack Hen- derson, Wingham. and Mrs. Alex McMichael of Clinton, while Heten Thompson of Hensall, Donna Hallam, Clinton 'and Bill Austin of Seaforth split another pot. equipment. Metcalfe and attended the Centennial activities. We wish Miivena, Andrew Luanne and Lydia Erickson a safe journey to Watr-ous. Sask., where they will be visiting Mr. Erickson's parents. Mr. Erickson plans on joining his wife and family in August. Mrs. Erickson has been a very efficient and faithful correspondent for the Bayfield Bugle. She has given unselfishly of her time to prepare the news that not only local friends may read., but that folks away from home might be kept in touch with happenings in Bayfield. Happy holiday to all the family. Mr. and Mrs. Fralick and Mary of Port Rowan spent Saturday evening with Ken and Joyce. Freida and Roy Scotchmer. Mr. .Fralick was a former teacher here. Mr: and Mrs. Robt. Heath of Dawson Creek are visiting with Mrs. Elia Cattle. To those who have moved into theircozy apartments at the new Senior Citizens building here we say "good health and happy days." Thank -you Congratulations go to all the Centennial committees and dedicated workers who gave of their time and talent to make the 100th Anniver- sary of the Incorporation of Bayfield, such a memorable occasion. Appreciation is also ex- tended to Mrs. Erickson and Ethel Pah and all others who participated in compiling the souvenir addition to the News Record. The copies will be cherished by many. Wendy Victoria Blyd'received her Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University, Hamilton in May at the spring convocation.
