From somo cause or other a straw stack on Mr. .Tames Donald's farm, in Blansluu'd, became ignited on Tuesday afternoon. The fire was confined to the interior of the stack, and the owner, finding it impossible to ex- tinguish the smouldering without scattering the straw and thereby endangering the ad- jacent buildings, despatched a messenger to St. Marys for the fire ougine. The officinals allowed the steamer and hose to go to the' farm, a distance of about two miles.. When the engine had got into working order the stack was scattered and flames burst out in all directious. The flow of water from the hese quickly extinguished what might have bean a deetructivn file, had the flames rprcad to the adjoining buildings.
