Some, as the McLeods built
their own boats, as this item tells
us—Feb. 21. 1890 "Mr. Hugh
McLeod hes almost completed
his new fish boat It promises to
be a hustler". This was Helen
McLeod 1.
In 1925. Louis McLeod built
Helen McLeod II - an exact•
replica of a Great Lakes
schooner, 37 feet long by 10 feet
wide, carrying the rig of a
Mackinaw boat. - a beautiful
sailing craft and one thiv gave its
owners excellent service for
many years. Louis could handle
ortant or many men
this ship in ahnost any type of
weather.
After being laid up for some
years, Helen McLeod II left
Bayfield harbour for the last time

houses stood on the north shore. The north pier was not weft built to dwell!! at this time.
