The evening started off
with a group of 10 members of
the Lila Storey School of
Dancing entertaining with a
step dance, while Forrest's
Orchestra accompanied
them.
This was followed by
progressive euchre with
prizes going to: ladies' high.
Mrs. Young : ladies' low. Mrs.
Stephenson; lone hands, Mrs.
Hanna ; gents' high, Jack
Errington; lone hands. Andy
Anderson; and low, Lorne

Plowing match date is set
The Huron Plowmen's
Association will hold their
1976 Plowing Match in
Usborne Township on the Ken
Duncan Farm near Kirkton
on Saturday September 18
starting at 9 a.m.
The Junior Plowing Match
and coaching day will be held
on Thursday September 16th
commencing at 9:30 a.m.
There will be two expert
plowmen. on hand to advise
plow boys on the proper
setting of plows and the Tine
points of plowing.
The Association is spon-

Plans for the 1978 Inter-
national Plowing Match and
Farm Machinery Demon-
stration at the Jim Arm-
strong and surrounding
farms are progressing on
schedule,
All committee chairmen
have been appointed. Many
interested and energetic
people are required to assist
with the successful operation
of each of the committees.
The Farmstead
Improvement Committee will
be encouraging contestants
from ail municipalities to
participate in the months
ahead.
An information session will
be held at the Central Huron
Secondary School Cafeteria
on Tuesday, June 2,2nd at 8
p.m. to outline the various
activities associated with the
International Plowing Match.

be the feature speaker.
Everyone with an interest is
invited to attend.

Mrs. Anderson, and . Mars.
Forrest; a readinw by Mrs.
Colciough; musical selections
by Forrest's Orchestra and a
mouth organ recital by Jack
Errington.
The draw for a hindquarter
of beef or $100 was won by Art
Groves, and birthday gifts
went to Mrs:. Charlie Cun-
ningham. Jack Errington and
Mrs. Y.orne Eidt.
Lunch was served and
during this time: a charter
member. Mrs. Stephenson.
was introduced to the
assembled guests.
Now the LOBA is looking
forward to its 55th birthday
and a better year.

appointed at Clinton
Ronald (Ron) Fleming was
recently appointed
Agricultural Engineer for
Huron County. He succeeds.
George Penfold who since
January has been associated
with the Huron County
Planning Dept.. Goderich. as
rural Planner, says D. S.
Pullen, Agricultural
Representative for Huron
County.
Ron is a native of Oxford
County where his family
operates a dairy and hog
farm. He attended Woodstock
Collegiate Institute and then
enrolled at the University of
Guelph where he maj,red in
-Agricultural Engineering.
At high school Rpn was
active in student council and
school choir. As well he was a
4-H member and Junior
Farmer member in Oxford
County.
At University. Ron was
active in several clubs in-
cluding square dancing,
Junior Farmers, University
choir, rifle club, intramural
sports and cross country
skiing.
He worked with the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and
Food for two summers doing
drainage surveys in the
Ridgetown and Ottawa areas.
His interests include music;
photography, sports and
farming. He is looking for-
ward to working in the
agricultural community.
