The June meeting will be
held in the evening. Rev.
McDonald closed the meeting
with prayer and lunch was
served by Margaret Whyte,
Laura Lyon and Jessie Jones.
A vote.of thanks was given by
Gloria McEwing from the
Burns Unit.

on Wednesday May 12 at 8
p.m. in the Londosboro Hall.
President Dora Shobbrook
welcomed all and read
"cheer up " and "Mother's
Day thoughts".
Roll call was answered by
"Do you keep a diary and
why" with 31 members and
two visitors present. The
minutes of the last meeting
and the financial report was
given by secretary treasurer,
Addie Hunking.

smuir curator, introduced the
district curator, Celia Taylor
of Goderich, who spoke on log
books and judged our logs.
First prize went . to Dora
Shobbrook and Hattie Snell
and Beryl Reid tied for
second. Worthy mention went
to Marjorie Anderson and
Florence Cartwright. Prizes
were presented by Helen
Lawson.
Celia Taylor sang "School
Days" and the "WI" ac-
companying herself on the
ttkelale. Elma Jewitt gave
two readings "Grandma" -
written by a grade three pupil
and "Philosophy of Life."
The meeting closed, and
lunch was supplied by Jessie
Tebbutt and Gladys Arm-
strong, Jessie Jones and
Joyce Kennedy.
WI DESSERT EUCHRE
The WI dessert euchre was
held on Friday night May 14
with a full house in at-
tendance. Guests from Blyth,
Clinton, Summerhill and
Walton were welcomed by the
president, Dora Shobbrook.
After dessert there were 24
tables of cards in play.
Winners were: ladies' high,
Mrs. Torrance Dundas; lone
hands. Mrs. Milmer
Glousher ; low, Mrs. Leitch;
men' S high, Harry Snell; lone
hands. Dave Mair; low, Mrs.
Lloyd Stewart and lucky tally
card, Glen Carter.
The draw on groceries was
won by Mrs. Russell Good
and Mrs. Slairn, and other
draws were won by Mrs. Bob.
Burns. GordonMurray. Mrs.
Ernie Dale and Mrs. Les
Reid.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Fothergill and family at-
tended the wedding reception
for Mr. and Mrs. Barry
Whytock which was held at
Howick Community Centre.
The bride is the former
Joanne Marks, a niece of
Mrs. Fothergill's.

Erin's parents and Walter
and Norma Smith.
George Whittaker had an
unfortunate accident at
school last week, when he was
hit—by a baseball bat,
receiving a concussion and a
cut requiring some stitches.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Heard
were guests at the Marks-
Maheu wedding in Bayfield
on Saturday.
Rev. Thos. Sinclair, who
has spent the past week with
Rev. and Mrs. Alex Taylor,
was guest preacher at Varna
and Goshen churches on
Sunday. He is at present
touring the United States and
Canada on a preaching
mission and has been in non-
denominational mission work
forover 50 years. 21 of' them
as Superintendent of Chester
City Mission of England.
He was instrumental in
bringing Rev. Taylor into the
service of the church and his
work in the mission fields. He
has also influenced many
other people to devote their
lives to the work of the
church. and these people may
be found in countries all over
the world.

A bridal shewer was held at
Goshen Church on Tuesday.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

on Saturday in Zurich,
Mennonite Church to Charles
King of Stratford.
A very entertaining
program in the form of a Hee
Haw show was enjoyed by all.
The main cast was comprised
of Mrs. Bruce Keys (at the
piano), Mrs. John Robinson..
Mrs. Anson McKinley, Mrs.
Ken Parke, Mri. John 4cItel
and Mrs. Floyd Armstrong.
It got off to a good start
with the singing of "OIL
MacDonald had a Farm,
Complete with live animals
Two .talented little girls,
Becky McKinley and Lisa
Robinson tap-danced, playt-d
their ukeleles and sail
several numbers. Sister Mary
Lou McKinley and Karen
Ratcliffe did a funny skit
about newlyweds, from the
bride's point of view.
Sharon's grade 1 class, who
performed at a conert, was
hilarious, too.
Sharon was assisted in
opening her many lovely gifts
by Miss Susan Parke, her
mother, and Mrs. King. A
delicious lunch and pleasant
social time followed.
SOCIAL NOTES
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Consitt
hosted a party on Saturday
evening honointing. Mr. and
Mrs. Barry Taylor on their
10th Wedding Anniversary.
There were 34 guests present.
Part of the evening was spent
dancing at Hully Gully.
Those who heard Rev.
Sinclair on Sunday hope he
will come back to this area.
