United Church Service at
Hensall on Sunday, when Mr.
and Mrs. Al Corbett, Mr. and
Mrs. Terry Haugh and Mr.
and Mrs. Ron McBride
presented their children for
baptism.
Baptized were Catherine
Donna Corbett, Theresa Lynn
Haugh and Michael Ronald
McBride. Rev. Don Beck
conducted the service, ob-
serving Mother's Day as
..'"The Festival of the Christian
Home" and took for the topic
of his sermon, "Taking
Things For Granted". This is
not one of the seven cardinal
sins but is at the bottom of all
the cardinal sins and can
have both a positive and a
negative effect.
Mrs. John Turkheim was at
the organ and the Junior
Choir sang, "Mother" and
"My Mother's Love", while
Gail Travers sang a solo, "I
Love to hear the Story". The
-church was full, many
visitors being present.
Flowers were from the
funeral o; the late Mr. Harry
Snell.
Next Sunday, the Exeter
United Church Junior Choir,
under the direction of Mrs.
Marienne McCaffery, will
present "Sam", the story of
the Good Samaritan, in
modern musical form, at the
church at 11 a.m.

who told us that the Christian
Church in Tanzania sees itself
as a co-worker with the
government.
The meeting was chaired
by Mrs. Russell Erratt. At the
business session, plans for the
Beef Bar-B-Que to be held
May 26 were completed. The
meeting closed with the
singing of the hymn, "Come
let us sing of a Wonderful
Love" followed by prayer.

Goderich township council
passed two bylaws at their
last regular meeting, one to
permit them to borrow
$400,000 and one to set the 1976
rate of taxation.
Council gave third and final
reading to bylaw five of 1976
permitting them to borrow up
to $400,000 for lending for
their ratepayers. The money
is to bq used to finance
township farmers doing tile
drain work on their land.
The money can be used by
the council to provide funds to
continue tile drain loaning
when provincial money is
gone. The province cut back
amounts given to
municipalities for tile drain
loans in a recent decision in
Queen's Park.
The second bylaw merely
allows council to set the
necessary tax structure m the
township to meet the
demands of the 1976 budget.
In other business council
voted to accept the tender of
Pollard Brothers to supply
calcium to the township .for
use on roads. The tender was
one of two submitted and. was
for $2.50 per ton. Miller
Paving submitted one for
$3.25 per ton.
Council issued six building
permits at the meeting. Keith
Bunn requested a, permit for a
garage; William O. McLean
for a drive shed and mobile
home; J. Cornfoot a garage;
Alfred Costello a three
bedroom seasonal residence;
and Ray Fisher applied for a
permit to construct
washrooms at the Salvation
Army Camp on the Lakeshore.
