McDonald said grace. a delicious meal was served by the UCW. Mrs. Howard Cartwright. a former.councillor. conducted the graduation part of the meeting. The girls that received their certificates were: Bev. Overholt. Susan Finch, Sally Pollard. Karen Farquhar and Cathy Rad- ford. • Perfect attendance gifts were received by Cathy Radford, Dianna Shebbrook, Shelly Westerhout, Janette Johnston. Valerie Milison, Laurel Duizer, Elizabeth Lawson, Marjorie Siertsema and Cheryl Lyon. A gift -was then presented to Mrs. Cartwright, and Mrs. Teiiman Westerhout thanked Mrs. Pete Westerhout who was unable, to attend and Mrs. Bert Lyon for all their help in the past year. Mrs. Tom Duizer was in- troduced as the new coun- cillor for the 76-77 year. Chief Explorer. Susan Finch then took charge, and a delightful program was put on by the girls. The club are planning to hold special dances this summer in Londesboro in June. Bayfield in July and Seaforth in August. When SWOSDA visited Clinton in Central ' Huron Secondary School. there were 32 squares in attendance. Two squares plus graduated in Londesboro and will be dancing with our Club in the fall. St. church was opened by Mrs. Grace Forbes. Everyone was urged to attend Hospital Day on May 12, and reminded of the coffee party on May 20 from 0:30 to 11:30, with a bake and sewing table. Mrs. McMurray took charge of the worship service assisted by Mrs. Roy Connell. the theme being Mother's Day. Mrs. Baker sang two lovely solos, accompanied by Mrs. L. Radford. The guest speaker, Mrs. Frank Fingland, spoke of her recent trip to the Holy Land visiting such places as Jerusalem. Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Bethany, Jericho, Dead Sea. Bethlehem and many others. The meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction and lunch was served by Mrs. J. Merrill's group. A poem, "Friends" was read by president Mrs. Edith Wright to open the Ont. St. U.C.W. Executive meeting on Monday evening, May 10. Secretary Mrs. Ellen Wilfong read the minutes of the April meeting and the correspondence. An invitation to Brucefield's U.C.W. June 1st meeting was received. as part of the church's 100th anniversary celebrations, and the ladies are asked to wear Centennial dress, if possible. The treasurer's report was presented, and it was decided Golden Radars meet The Golden Radar Club met in the Council Chambers on May 5th with Mrs. Lorna Radford at the piano. The president welcomed the 51 members and visitors present. and the treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Cecilia Edgar. and the flower and card report by Mrs. Roy Connell. Cards of thanks were Lo.aI obituary Thomas John Riley Thomas John Riley of Victoria Street, Clinton died May 3, 1976 in the Clinton Public Hospital.lIe was 77. Mr. Riley was born in Hullett Township and in December. 1921 he married Margaret Jean Cook. Mr. Riley belonged to the Wesley Willis United Church. Clinton. Surviving besides his wife is a brother Frank Riley. RR 2 Seaforth. The funeral was held May 6. at the Bali and Mutch Funeral Home. Clinton with Rev. John Oestreicher of- ficiating. interment followed in the Clinton cetnetery. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Riley, Rod Johnston of Goderich. I.eo Hoggart, Wesley Hoggart, Bill Stephenson. Malcom Stephenson and Douglas Riley. Flower bearers were Bob Woods. Bob • Harris and Wayne Ellwood. received from Mrs. Bert Rowden and Gladys Hoggarth, and a letter was received from Mr. J. I.. 1.erette, president of U.S.C.O., thanking the Radar Club for their Star Members. ' It was decided to send delegates to the 18th Annual Convention of U.S.C.O. of Ontario. being held in Brock University at St. Catharines, August 10th and 11th. 1976. The committee for the May 19th meeting is Mr. John Turner. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ryan. Mrs. Mary Grigg. They were then favored with a violin duet by Ken Flett and Elgin Nott. accompanied by Lorna Radford. Mrs. Arabell Bushell in- troduced the guest speaker. Mr. Gerald Hiltz. barrister. of Clinton. who gave a very informative talk on "making out wills". Questions were asked. and Mrs. Polly Wiltse in her capable manner thanked Mr. Hiltz for his talk. which affects each one. A humorous reading was given by Mrs. Clarence Ball. and draw prizes were won by Ottilee Rowden and Elmer Trick. Progressive euchre prizes were won by: high lady. Mrs. Goldie Rutledge: low lady. Mrs. Margaret Fremlin: high man, Mr. Gordon Scribbins: low man. Mr. Clarence Ball. They would be happy for any senior citizen over 60 years in the community to come and join the club. at this time to again sponsor a Foster Child. Mrs. Oda Skov reported on the kitchen supplies and Mrs. Lois Elliott presented kitchen scales from the shuffle board club. Donations of good, clean. used clothing would be ap- preciated for the bale. which will be packed on June 2. 'A meeting of U.C.W. Presidents and Program Conveners will be held in Kirkton. Ont.. May 26 at 7:15 p.m. and on Aug. 24. at 9 a.m, .a one day school for women will be held at Alma College. Mrs. Helen Aiken and Mrs. Gwen I.avis will be representatives to a con- ference at Westminster College. May 28 30.
