the address.
"Dear John and Cathy:
"We are gathered here this
evening to honour you prior to
your forthcoming marriage.
We are happy John. to know
that you have decided to
remain in the community.
"As everyone knows, John
is the most popular person in
the neighbourhood after a
winter storm when he puts his
snowblower to work to dig us
out from behind the drifts.
"We have watched you
through the years as you were
growing up and it seemed
that your one and only in-
terest was tinkering with
machinery, motors. cars. etc.
However as the years went
by. John suddenly found a
second interest. He began to
notice the girls and especially
a certain girl in the Monkton
area.
"Things • went on as usual
till late in 1975 when John
made it plain to Mom and
Dad that he was going to take
the big step and one house
was not big enough. for two
families.
"No time was wasted and
Dad secured a building
permit for a new house.
Spring arrived. the snow was
gone, the foundation was built
and the whole community is
watching for the arrival of the
new house.
"And to you. Cathy. we give
a warm welcome to the
community.
"In recent years it seems
that we have been losing our
neighbours. Therefore we are
plunge,
you.wi#hppp
in you new home and that in
a very short time we will
become better acquainted'.
"'Lastly. John and Cathy we
wish you much happiness in
the years to come and ask you
to accept these gifts from
your friends and neigh-
bours."
Cathy and John thanked
everyone for the gifts and
lunch was servedand a social
hour was enjoyed.
