Little Britain won the best three out taf five when Zurich .lost to them last weekend in Little Britain and the game Saturday night. by a score of 8-6 and on Sunday at noon by a score of 6.5. The boys worked very hard this season and should be congratulated for their fine efforts in reaching the final play-off series. Best of luck for the finals next season. Plans were discussed for the coming events. including the choir supper on April 6. the Bean Supper on April 24, the spring Thankoffering meeting in Clinton on April 25 at 7:30 n, and the father and sen banquet April 29. Th+e beautiful cut made by the, Church ladies to mark Bayfield Centennial . was displayed and admired by everyone. Mrs. Ella MacKenzie was honoured by the gift of a life membership in the UCW. She waspresented with a pin and certificate by Mrs. Metcalf and Mrs. Reddoch. Mrs. Margaret Scotchmer thanked Mrs. Reddoch for being the hostess and the ladies of the lunch committee. Mrs. Morton, Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Jean Greer, for the lovely lunch. The meeting closed with the benediction. It was learned that the ministry of transportation and communication has approved the subsidy on the paving to be done this year in :�. the Village by contract to Lavis of Clinton at a:...cost of $1.7.45 per ton. " it : was also learned (with -pleasure) that the Huron rrounty levy would be $28,607 for 1976, down about $6,000 from the previous year, and would be due in two in - Native passes in Detr�it Funeral services for Frank Cameron, founder and president of the Cameron and King Inc., mechanical con- tractors, were held on Friday, • March 19, in the Bell Chapel of the William R. Hamilton Co., Birmingham, Mich. Mr. Cameron, 85, of Beverly Hills, died Tuesday, March 16 in Beaumont Hospital. He was a native .of Bayfield. Ontario,, and had lived in Detroit area since 1914, but visited his home town of Bayfield several times each year. • He was a member of the Detroit Exchange Club and a member of Ashlar Lodge $ 91F and AM, Moslem Shrine and Scottish Rite. Mr. Cameron is survived"by his wife Frances; three sons, John, William and F. Robert and one sister. Mrs. Ada Reid of Seaforth and 10 grand- children. Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Canon Kenneth H. Cass D.D. officiating. stailotents. June 30 and Dec. 15. News -Record photo Minor hockey scores, results Op Thursday, March 25. the Bayfield Novice hockey team played host to Zurich Novice team with Zurich winning the close game by a score of 3-2. David Telford scored Bayfield's first goal and Robbie Van Aaken scored their second goal. Both goals were unassisted. The Novice team were invited to participate in Grand Bend's novice tour- nament in Zurich over the weekend. Bayfield played their first game on Friday night against Zurich and lost 3-1. Bayfield played against the Thedford Novice team. with Bayfield's goalie Billie Sinnamon getting his first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win for Bayfield which brought Bayfield back to play later in the afternoon.. Scorers for Bayfield were David Telford assisted by Doug Wain. Robbie -Boyce and Doug Wain assisted David Telford's second goal. J1i- knoun riI(agpr,dNs Albert Hales Dresser of Bayfield, died February 22, 1976 at the age of 75 years at his home in Bayfield following a lengthy illness. He was born to the late Christian Charles Dresser and Janet (Holley) Dresser on August 13. 1901 in Bayfield and had resided there all his life. Hales, who was a bachelor. attended &S6 6,°' Stanley (Bayfitld) Public School and Bayfield Continuation School and was an avid photographer, making his own developer and enlarger. He was probably best known for his market gar- dening business, along with his brother Willard. with whom he resided and who survives him. The two brothers also did some lan- dscaping and assisted many Pee wees lose On .Sunday. March 28. Bayfield PeeWees travelled to Seaforth to play against Dublin in zone playfroffs. Dublin won 7-2. Helping Brian Van Aaken dent the twine for I3ayfiekd's first goal was Robert Boyes-. Dale Stephenson came back and scored the second goal with the help of Ricky Johnston. On Monday. March 29, Bayfield Peewees played host to Dublin. losing in a close score of 4-3. Michael Telford scored the first goal in the first period from the stick of Jeff Merner to put Bayfield in the game. In the second period. Dale Stephenson shook Bayfield up to try and : stay alert by winding up with a slap shot into the net. with an assist by Robert Boyes and David Consitt. . Tying up the game in the third period. Mike Telford came back and scored Bayfield's final goal with of the summer residents with their yards and lawns each. season. On a good day you would probably see them in their boat. fishing. in the Bayfield River or in Lake Huron. Hales was a quiet living man and a very sincere gen- tleman. He will be missed, not only by his brother and the Villagers, but also by the summer residents who have come to know 'him as an honest businessman who sold the choicest merchandise. The funeral and committal service for the late Hales Dresser was held on February 25 from Westlake Funeral -Home in Zurich with Rev. William Bennett of Trinity Anglican Church. Bayfield. officiating. Burial will take „place later in Bayfield Cemetery. to Dublin Dublin going on and the winning goal in game of hockey. On Monday. April 5. Bayfield PeeWees• visited Dublin at Clinton and lost 6-2. Mike Telford tallied the first marker from Brian Van Aaken and David Consitt. Brian Van Aaken scored the second goal from the sticks of David Consitt and Jeff Merner to make rhe last and final game of the season an exciting one. Coach Don Johnston pulled his goalie with a minute left in the game and put on six forwards with David Consitt spending the last half of the minute in the net. Although David Consitt isn't the goalie. he sure tried his hardest to keep the puck -taut of the net. The PeeWee team certainly deserve a round of applause for the terrific effort they put into their games this year. Best of Luck nextseason. getting a good Brad Valliere scored the third goal for Bayfield, unassisted. The most valuable player in the game was David Telford of Bayfield. Late Saturday afternoon, Bayfield Novice played against Grand Bend. losing 9- 1. David Telford got the only goal for Bayfield assisted by John Garrett. u The players and c-oaches of Bayfield say a big thanks to Grand- Bend for the lunch they were provided with and the enjoyable weekend reported by ,all those par- ticipating. Mrs. David Dewar in the Goderich Nursing Home. Mrs. W. E. Morley and Kevin of Cleveland, Ohio are spending a few days at their Village residence. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Smith. Paris spent Saturday with his mother. Mrs. L. B. Smith. With Mrs. Smith on Sunday were her son-in-law and daughter and granddaughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Rowse and Catherine of London, Best wishes to Mr. Frank McClinchey. .who is hospitalized in South Huron Hospital. Exeter. Mrs. Will Burgess, Angus. was a guest last week with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blackie. Mrs. Esther Makins, Mrs. Jessie Blair and Mrs. Jean Lindsay are the committee who are arranging the senior and junior Centennial Queen contest. The judges make their decision on May 8 and the winners and runners-up will be announced at a Dance in the Community Center that same evening. The contest is open to seniors aged 60 and over and juniors 18 to 25 and single. Don't forget the Centennial Pancake Brunch in Clan Gregor Square this Sunday. April 11. See ad elsewhere in this issue. Mr. David Dewar. Don Mills and ' nephew David Dewar of Weston stayed for a few days recently with the former's sister. Mrs. Elva Metcalf and while here. visited with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. David Dewar in Goderich Nursing Home. Billy Bob Johnston celebrated his 95th birthday' on Sunday. April 4 and many of his old friends and neigh- bours of Bayfield went to Huronview where he now resides to wish him well. Congratulations and many happy returns. Billy Bob. Bayfield 1 4-H Club The fifth meeting of Bayfield 14-H Club was held at the home of Mrs. Phoenix on Tuesday. March 30. .Mrs. Chapman discussed and told us that the record books had to be handed in by April 23 for Achievement Day. which is on May 8. We also completed our history outline and Mrs. Phoenix and Mrs. Chapman der bnstrated hew to do the satin stitch .and the sheaf filler stitch.
