A buck ?doesn't necessarily
buy you a vote, as the
Progressive ' Conservatives
found in the last provincial
elections in the two ridings of
Huron -Bruce and Huron -
Middlesex.
In Huron -Bruce, PC can-,
didate William Walden,
according to his return filed
with the Ontario Commission
on Election Contributions and
Expenses. spent $21,358
compared to 59,115 for MPP
Murray Gaunt. Mr. Gaunt
won the riding by 10.393 votes.
The NDP candidate in the
riding, Dr. Don Milne, spent
586 probably the lowest
amount by any candidate for
the three major parties in the
province.
In fact, it cost Dr. Milne,
5120 to audit the 586. The 5120
will be covered in full by the
election ,expenses corn -
mission. Dr. Milne received 2,

The third meeting of the
Londesboro 1 4-H Club was
held on Wednesday March 17.
at the home of Giena Datema.
The leaders handed out.,
sheets outlining Achievement -
„pay and introduced the next
spring prn#ects to us. Debbie
read the skit she had written
and we decided to do it.
We decided to call our-
selves the 'Struggling Stit-
cher:'. and we read from the
book on how to,,r'eate a
design . The lea cfet ' "lowed
us how to enlarge a design
and we enlarged the design in
the members pamphlet . The
leaders showed us how to do
the Twisted Chain Stitch and
we practiced it. We closed
with the motto.
The fourth meeting of the
Club was held on Wednesday
March 4 at the home of
Susan and Debbie Wallace.
Copies of the skit were
handed out and together we
read our parts and discussed
the skit. Debbie showed some
cover designs she had made
one of which we chose,te do.
We read the pages in the
members pamphlets on our
"Free Choice Article” and
the leaders showed us how to
do the Couching Outline stitch
and the couching crossed
stitch. We did them on our
samplers and then closed the
meeting with the motto. The
next meeting will be held at
Pat Bylsma's place on April
at 7 p.m. Refreshmentswere
served by Debbie.

Clinton writer to receive hioi'ary degree
Alice Munro. award-
winning writer. now living in
Clinton is one of seven
distinguished Canadians who
will be receiving honorary
degrees at the University of
Western Ontario's Spring
Convocation in June.. Out of
