Council learns of program change
"Bayllekl Council, at their
regular meeting, learned that
the government of Ontario
recently changed its aft-
proach to emergency plan-
ning,and response.
The emergency measures
branch of the ministry of the
solicitor general has been
disbanded arid a lead
ministry concept •has been
established. Lead ministries
of the government have been
given responsibility for
responding to various
emergency, situations by
providing and co4rdinating
resources necessary to meet
declared emergencies.
The ministry of natural
resoUrces has been identified
by Order -in -Council as the
ministry responsible for
provincial response to flood
emergency. It is the view of
the ministry that upon the
occurence of a flood
emergency. initial respon-
sibility for the residents rests
with the muncipality having
jurisdiction, and that a
provincial response will
provide assistance in support
of emergency action un-
dertaken by the municipality.
Council also learned of the
organization of Small Urban
Municipalities Conference in
Whitby on May 6,7, and 8, and
the village applied for beach
and park clean-up through
the student summer ern-
ployment program sponsored
by the Ausable-Bayfie Id
Conservation Authority.

invitation from the ministry
of housing to a workshop to

For more carefree top -range cooking use the Tem-
perature Controlled Top Burner ( T.C. T. B. ) . The
T.C.T.B. is a GAS range burned with an automatic
temperature control. A sensing device within the
burner regulates the flame size. This will ensure near -
constant heat and eliminate periodic checking.
With the T.C.T.B. some small automatic appliances
can be eliminated. A regular pot can become a tem-
perature -controlled deep -fat fryer, or a Skillet can
replace an automatic frying pan.
Call the CONSUMER SERVICES REPRESEN-
TATIVE at Union Gas for additional information on the
T.C.T.B. or other GAS appliances. Printed literature is
available at NO CHARGE.
