The Main St. of any tourist
town is normally rather quiet
during the winter months,
and more especially if its
raining, sleeting and
snowing, causing hazardous
walking and driving con-
ditions, as was the case on
Shrove Tuesday, Mar. 2.
However, would you
believe the Main St., of the
summer resort town of Grand
Bend was alive with vehicles
and pedestrians heading to
the Village Inn Retreat
Centre on that very night,
where the aroma of pancakes
and sausages enticed -even
the most sceptic "stay -at -
homer" to leave is
warm abode to partake of the
delicious food.
The food was exceptionally
good -- big light pancakes, all
types. of toppings from the
traditional maple syrup to
whipped creain and chopped
nuts; fat, juicy sausages,
homemade pies, pots of
coffee and glasses of milk.
The Village Inn Retreat
Centre and all its various
activities is open all year

interdenominational group of
businessmen in the Grand

Leo Morningstar, . the
manager said the centre can
accommodate - 75 to 100
persons. The rooms are at-
tractively
ttractively panelled and
carpeted, with hot and cold
water in each room. Several
larger rooms are set up for
conference or group use. The
dining arrangements . are

family remarked at the
cleanliness of the whole
building and especially the
washrooms, the friendly
atmosphere and the feeling of
warmth, not to mention the
delicious food. Despite the
weather conditions, it was a
very enjoyable experience.
