Last week, upon tripping
doWl to my little suggestion
box in the, library, and
dumping its contents onto a
nearby table, I found one
suggestion orhich was 'quite a
good one.
,.question
suggested that Susan Tyndall
be named Student of the
Week. The reason? "To
eommomorate Internatihl
Women's Year 'T5'! Well
how could 1 argue that'? So,
for • our frustrated feminist
(whoever she may be) . we
proudly proclaim Sue Tyndall
"Student a
Student of the Week".
Perhaps Susan's greatest
involvement at CHSS is her
position as Treasurer on the
Students' Council F,axecutive.
Actually Susan likes her job
for. the simple, pure,
altruistic reason that she"
loves money! The jingle -
jangle of quarters and.
dimes! Perhapsthis has
earned her the title of the

Trying your sales ditch
Once again this year, the
Students Council is putting on
a.chocolate bar drive to raise
money to support student
activities. If enough money is
raised, . the proceeds will go
toward the long awaited
tennis courts at CHSS.
Prizes will be given for the
best salespersons. First prize
is a portable television set;
second prize is a digital clock
radio: and third prize is a
pocket calculator.
The home room team that
sells the most chocolate bars
will receive passes. com-
pliments of the Students
Council to the dance Busker

Just ask Annie!
Dear Annie:
This is to the girl who thinks
she may be pregnant. Your
father was probably trying to
protect your image when he
said to either get married cr
have an abortion, but
somehow I get the feeling he's
just interested in his own
image.
Getting an abortion is not a
good way to handle the
problem. after all it's not the
baby's fault you got pregnant.
Also remember that
marriage is one of the most
important decisions you must
make in your whole life and
you must be absolutely sure
about it. It is a life long
commitment and may change
your whole future.
I don't mean to discourage
you by this. but it is a very big
step especially when you are
still so young. You could go
ahead and have the baby and
give it up for adoption. An
abortion wouldn't get rid of
the fact that you were
carrying a baby land there are
better ways to handle a
pregnancy, Talking to
someone could also help.
"A concerned person"
Dear "Concerned Person, ' •
Thanks a lot for your letter
and 1 wish there were more
people in this world like you
and then maybe there
wouldn't be as many gaps in
the society. From the sound
of your letter. you are ex-
perienced in helping others
and 1 know this will be a great
help in your future
+ + +
This year, there is going to
be a draw as well, For every
six 'oars that you sell, you
will get your name placed in
. the drum to make you eligible
to win a ten pound chocolate
bar.
The chocolate bars are four
ounces of pure chocolate
which sell for $1. Chocolate -
coated almonds in a 4 ounce ,
a 13,5 gram box are also being
sold for Si per box.
Remember the money
raised will go to help finance
the student activities that you
are involved in. So, get out
and start knocking on doors,
using YOUR best sales pitch

my boyfriend, I found out
they weren't true.
My boyfriend and I have a
really great relationship and
her stories and the things she
tells me often cause friction
between us. Please help, she
is too dear a friend to lose.
"Troubled"
Dear "Troubled"
A thing like that can cause
problems_ The best. thing to
do is to be absolutely. sure
that she doesn't really believe
what she says, after all it isn't
good to blame her if what she
says is true.
You mentioned in your
letter that you and your
boyfriend had a great
relationship but you didn't
mention hers or what her
relationship with her
boyfriend,: was like. It is
possible • ' that if the.
relationship between her and
her boyfriend isn't as great as
yours. she is jealous and
wants to see some conflict
between you so her
relationship doesn't seem so
bad.
The truth will be hard to
find out and it isn't easy to
ask anything like that
straight out. The best thing to
do is to lay hints to her or say
another friend of yours has
this problem or you could
even have her read this letter
and see if she realizes that it
is really bothering you.
P.S.,- Keep all those letters
coming!
Dear "Taking it Silently"
Confidential
Since your letter revealed
Some critical information 1
thought it would be .better if
we kept it to ourselves
1 know exactly what you
mean in the letter and 1 know
-it often is quite a problem 1
am afraid. though, that we
can't do much about the
problem . and we girls will
have to just ignore it
1 guess it would Impossible
to tell the principal about it
brit chances are that they
would do it even more lust as
spite. The best thing is to
make sure you don't say
anything directly to them
since it is probably what they
want. Just ignore them
(Good luck Silent"

Students win on Heritage day
Fear many. Heritage Day
slipped, by without , much
notice. But students from the
surrounding schools have .put
time and effort into projects
that were displayed at our
school to commemorate
Heritage Day. They were
,.. i'dge ie ' by. members -o€ .the
Arch.iteetura1 Conservancy of
Oritairio from Goderich.
There were many excellent
works to be judged. They
ranged 'from essays on the
historical facets of Huron
County to miniature farms
that looked exactly as they
did around the turn of the
century.
Reports on the histories of
Clinton. Bayfield and
school grapevine has • been
hopping with rumours.
Amongst these rumours was
one that went like this. "Due
to the adverse weather
conditions, and the amount of
school we have missed due to
this condition. the March
exams will be cancelled. A -4s0
due to the cancellation all
students will be required to
write the June finals."
This rumour is definitely
untrue, and Mr. Hom.uth. our
principal. verified the fact
last week in time for
V alentine' s .Day .
This term, all students will
be -required to write their
second set of exams as
previously scheduled. March
11-19.
These dates are steadily
getting closer and closer and
1 bet that in the next few
weeks the rest of you, along
with me will be cursing our
Joint Valentine's present.
