Minton Kinsmen Club
adopt Heritage Day
The Kinsmen Clubs across
Canada have adopted a
National Program aimed at
telling the people of Canada
that wt are proud Canadians,
'proud of our heritage and
proud of our country.
February 16, has been chosen
as the day which will become
Canada's National Heritage
Day.
Right now, the bill
proclaiming this day as
Heritage Day has received
first and second readings in
parliament. It needs a third
reading before it can be
proclaimed a national
holiday. So. although the day
this year will not be
proclaimed a statutory
holiday. Kinsmen hope that
by February 16, 1977, it will
be one.
In the next few weeks, the
Heritage message will be
appearing on posters, radio
and TV commercials and
newspapers.
Locally, the .Clinton Kin-
smen will be using their in=
volvement in the Winter
Carnival to ' promote "
Canadianism in our com-
munity in as many ways as '
they can find possible. It will
be there, in the parade, the
snowmobile races and Monte
Carlo Night.
It is hoped that with . ,
Heritage Day, an enthusiasm
can be built., and maintained
which will leave all
Canadians with a better
appreciation of our Canadian
Heritage.
