At 8:30, the Junior "C" Mustangs take on the New Hamburg Hahns in a regular league game that will decide first place in the OHA league. Minor .hockey weekend continues on Saturday af- ternoon when the Atoms take to the ice a 4:30p.m., followed by the pee wees versus New York at 5:45 p.m. and the Bantams versus New 'York at • 7 p.m. themidgets take to the ice in. a regular league -game :At 8:30 p.m. • e The big *weekend will be wrapped up with a dance beginning at 9 p.rn. in which Clinton. In Port Elgin Saturday night the Sunocos, led by a three -goal performance of Les Kingston. defeated the Clinton Colts 7-4. Greg Burns and Harvey Atchison scored two goals each in the loss which extended the Colts' losing streak to three games. Three clubs were represented: Seaforth, Vanastra and Teeswa ter. .•• Seaforth's team of David Ste. Marie, Dave Reid, Glen Stewart and Joe McLean defeated Vanastra, but lost out to Teeswater. The same team of boys entered the Junior Tankard competition here on Sunday January 25: They lost to Vanastra by one point and Vanastra in turn was put out by Harristoi: Tuesday. January 17. saw the finals for the Huran School Curling held in Vanastra. Teams from Wingham. Goderich. Clinton. Exeter and Seaforth par- t scipated . Representing Seaforth were David Ste. Marie. Dave Reid. Glen Stewart. and Joe McLean. The girls' team was made up by Fay Storey. Linda Bell. Sandra Ruston and Jane Ribey The top two teams go on to competition in the Huron.Perth finals. At press time. winners were not available. but it was obvious. from the above. that Seaforth has some top notch. eager. competitive young curlers who will be worth watching in the next few years. The Seagram Mixed competition heli in Exeter on Sunday January 25 elected to play double knock out. The first round saw Teeswater defeat Vanastra and Seaforth. win over Listowel. In the. second round. Teeswater defeated Seaforth and Listowel knockeit oit Vanastra. Seaforth then put Listowel out. of contention in the third round. • The finals between Seaforth and Teeswater 'were scheduled for Wednesday, in Exeter at 1 p.m. At press time. winners were not available. The winner of the third 50- 50 club draw was Gwen Patterson. .Atoms Win two more On1 11irivary 18. the Vanastra ladies came in second at the Brussels Bonspiel. On January 24 Vanastra hosted the Radio Operators Bonspiel and the winners of the first draw -was the Glen Hayter team Of Seaforth Second was the B.,41 Baxter team of Mitchell and third was the Jack Bell team. Winners in the second draw were the Ed Broadfoot team of Vanastra: second team. Bill Shaddich. Vanastra: and third place Denis Lebrun team Vanastra. Two ladies teams from the Vanastra Club curled in the Ooderich Spiel Saturday January 24, Both teams won one game and lost their second. Teams were: Gayle Brownridge. Alice Brochu, Carol Munro and Corrine Cutler. also, Marilyn Broadfoot. Robyn Theedom. Joan Kennedy and Del Michelmore. On Sunday January 25, a. school boy Rink from Vanastra curled in the Junior Tankard -Competition in Sraforth The Vanastra team The Clinton WildeX Atoms won two more games on the weekend in their pursuit of • first place. Last Saturday. Llinton blanked Hensall 3-0 with Chris Ladd and David Wright sharing the shut -out in the Clinton net. Goal scorers were Brad Hymers. Scott Kay and Wayne Smith. Clinton also won an im- portant game last Sunday when they edged Mitchell 5-3. Clinton goal scorers were Randy Marriage with a pair. Brad Hymers, Scott Harris and Bob Dupee. each with singles. In the final game of the regular schedule. Clinton hosts Grand Bend here at 430 m. on Saturday. was Don Peterson, Brian Lobb, Paul Galaciuk and Dan Campbell. Vanastra won their first game 7-6 against Seaforth and lost their second - 10 -3 against Teeswater. Also on Sunday January 25, Vanastra was represented in the Seagrams Mixed Bon - spiel. Exeter. The team was composed of Denis Lebrun, Gayle Brownridge. Bruce Shillinilaw and Corrine Cutter. The Vanastra team of lady curlers . was storm stayed Wednesday Jan. 21 in Teeswater: Curlers were Bev Shaddick, Corrine Cutler, -Linda Reid and Gayle Brow nridge. On Tuesday.. January 27, the Vanastra Curling Club hosted the Huron County Secondary School Com- petitipn. The two top winners from this meet will go on to compete in the Huron -Perth curling competition.
