Centennial fever rising

Some homeowners with
limited income in Clinton
may be eligible for loins from
the town of Clinton to fix up
their houses, the Ontario
ministry of housing an-
nounced this week.
The ministry has given
Clinton 59,500 or a 538,000
1975-76 grant that the town
loans out to owner -occupants
to correct faulty structural
and sanitary conditions and
to upgrade plumbing,
heating, and electrical
systems. of the owner oc-
cupants home.
Despite a wet June that
dumped up ,to five inches of
rain on parts of Huron
County; many area crops are
suffering from a lack of
moistUre, and in some fields
in the County, the situation
- could become Critical by next
Tuesday.
Centennial is two weeks
away, with the official
• opening to take place at the
Library Park on July 26, and
the Centennial Committee is
feverishly working to com-
plete preparations for the
biggest birthday party
Clinton has ever had.

Replying to a question-
naire. 78.5 percent of
Tuckersmith Township
property owners said they
were not in favour of an
added levy on their taxes for
recreation purposes.
The problem on recreation
in the township arose in April
when Council refused a
request from Seaforth for a
donation of 52,300 towards the
cost of capital improvements
at the Seaforth arena. -The
three other townships.
Hullett. McKillop and Hib-
bert, paid their donations.
(July 3) Last minute preparations are underway for the
Clinton Centennial celebrations, which start on July 25,
and the main streets of Clinton are all decorated for the
occasion. Here Don Ellwood of the PUC adds' some
finishing touches to the streetlights which are also
decorated with Clinton's very own flag. Seaforth's
