In the absence of Mrs. Connell. the flower and card report was given by Leona Lockhart. Chastity Colquhoun, Clinton, spent Monday with her great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shobbrook. 34 members, and Gladys Hoggarth gave .the star Membership report. A motion by Gladys Hoggarth. seconded by Marg Fremlin, that a pot luck supper and a fun night for the Valentine meeting on February 18, was passed. A discussion followed on how to make money for the club. Several ways were mentioned. but it was left to bring in ideas at the next meeting. It was decided to give the custodian a gift of ap- preciation. The committee in charge for the next meeting on January 21, is Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dale, Mrs. Myrtle Read and Mrs. Pearl Cum- ming& A short programme followed, with Bert Rowden as chairman. It included: Muriel Grigg with a reading -entitled ''Golden Radar Neighbourly News" ; a mouth organ selection by Wat Webster; and a reading by -Pearl Cummings. "Editor writes his own Wedding". Eight tables of euchre bingo was enjoyed -by all. More boys of elementary school age are welcome to come for a fun game. Expensive equipment is not necessary, but Bill suggests shin pads, if anything, besides your skates and stick. volleyball is now underway with Doug Yeo in charge at Holmesville school. Boys and girls, men and women, high school age and over are welcome to participate every Tuesday. 8-10 p.m. They can still accomodate a few more' players. Ideal Weather conditions ' prevail for the ski 'en- thusiasts. so the organizational meeting of the cross country skiers will be held at Holmesville Public School on Thursday January 13 (tonight) at 8:30 p.m. A guest speaker will address the group. Everyone of any age is welcome. If you have any questions about your ski equipment, bring them along. Bring a snack for lunch. Coffee will be provided. Sounds like fun. doesn't it. So come on along. This past week saw a lot of participation from our club in provincial curling. A rink of ladies skipped by Grace Campbell, and in- cluding Norma Riley, Marie McGavin and Loretta Dolmage, entered the SOLCA Provincials in' Listowel on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday, January 5, 6 and 7. The girls made a fine showing, winning their first three games against Kin- cardine. Goderich and Brussels. They lost to Mount Forest and Hanover to be put out of the running. The British 'Cons& team, skipped by George Alexander and including Gerald Smith, Clayton Fraser and Paul Storey, played in the sub- division playoffs in Goderich on Saturday. January 10.
