Ontario descended - on the
three eighths of a mile track
to compete for the trophy and
$4500 'in prize money each
day. - Mot of the. riders felt
that this was a "dry run" for
the Double A runoffs
scheduled for- later in
January.

Randy Collins' anticipated
1,000. Collins was "disap-
pointed" in the entrants and
the total number opaying
customers. Approx mately
2,500 people paid $3 admission
to watch the racing.
Collins felt the Sunday
races were better both from
the standpoint of the number
wanting to race and the
number of spectators, which
increased substantially from
the day before.
Machines like Franks'
Mercury seemed best suited
ourse, as they took
of the top ten places itt
the competition, The others
were a. Yamaha and a.
Polaris.
Each of the "sleds", as the
drivers call them, is valued in
the $4,000 tango. The high
costis probihitiv&tos private
entry so most of the drivers
obtain spotisorshi' for their
racing activities. Franks is
sponsor ed by Kohler.. °
Fifteen classes were
running in the event, from
Amateur Stock 250 -right up to
Open Modified 440.
Open modified means that
the team mechanic and
driver can. modify the engine
any way that they want to.
Super Stock is the
snowmobile as it comes from
the factory with performance
parts. Amateur racers
compete for trophies only' -and
are not required to . invest
starting money.
Franks was easily ahead of
his closest opponent.
Joe Wolf, who trailed him
with 484 points. on a Yamaha.
Blair McCann was third on a
Mercury with 452 points.
Collins said he expects a
better turnout for his next
race, which takes place on
January 11 at Hully Gully.
This past weekend's racing
was sponsored by Molson's,
Mark Ten, Gates Snowmobile
Belts, Champion Spark Plugs
and radio station CKSL in
London.

Dear Editor:
May I, through the letters
column of your publication,
make an appeal to all former
students and staff of Victoria
High School in Victoria, B.C.
In 1976, Victoria High
School. the oldest Canadian
public high school west of the
Great Lakes. will celebrate
the 100th anniversary of its
-establishment. A cornmittee
has been formed to plan
suitable centennial
celebrations, and we are now
attempting to locate all who
attended V.H.S., either as a
student or as a mmber of the
staff.
Celebrations' will begin
early in the New Year and
continue through to the end of
the school term.
Many events are being
planned for the Homecoming
Weekend, May 7, 8 and 9. A
registration fee of 53 is, to be
charged for this weekend,
entitling those who register to
attend events at the school on
May 8, and a garden party on
May 9. They will also receive -
full information on other
celebrations, although an
additional admission fee may
have to be charged for some
of these.
Anyone eligible to register.
should write to P.O. Box 1976,
Victoria, B.C., for further
information, or send their
registration fee now, along
with their name, maiden
name if applicable, address,
and dates of attendance at
Vic. High.
-Fortner students and staff
who read this are urged to
register how. and help the
committee by passing on
news of the celebrations to
others they know who are
eligible to take part.

The Vanastra Christian
Church welcomes everyone to
a Gospel Sing night. Mark
