BIBLE SOCIETY The tinnual .Auburn Carol service sponsored by the Bible Society was held last Monday evening in Knox United Church with as fair t tendoice M Iipnuijt Haines led the service in the absence of the United Church Supply minister, Mr. M. Morrison. Mrs. Norman Wightman presided at the organ. Several carols were sung followed by prayer by Mr. Frank Raithby. The scripture lesson was read by Mr. Haines. A duet was sung by Mrs. Thomas Jardin and Mrs. Donald Hames. The ;. offering was received by Mr. James Towe and Mr, Murray Rollinson, Two Christmas readings were given by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. Rev, Fred Carson. rector of St. Mark's Anglican Church gave an inspiring Christmas message, He dwelt on the purpose of mankind and urged all to live each day for Christ and be a Witness for Him- at this festive season. Mrs, Thomas Lawlor gave a demonstration and spoke of her display of Christmas decorations and gifts, Carols led by Mrs. Donald Haines with Mrs. Jackson at the piano were enjoyed. Two Christmas solos were sung by Mrs. Gordon McCiinchey of Mrs„ Roy Daer thanked her and presented her with a gift. Mrs, .Frank Raithby gave two readings. The roll call was answered by naming a simple way to brighten the Christmas season for someone else. An interesting showing of pictures of flowers, scenes and of Auburn W.I. taken in 1922 was presented by Mrs. Oliver Anderson, Mrs. Frank Raithby thanked her and presented her with a gift. Mr. Glousher operated the cider mill for 48 years but quit two years ago due to ill health, a business operated for many years by his father. Besides. farming, Mr. Glousher operates a small workshop where • he often mends broken farm machinery and replaces broken parts. Mrs. Glousher's hobby is knitting and crocheting. Mr. and Mrs. Glousher have five children. One daughter Mrs. Keith (Jean) Good of RR 1 Auburn, Robert of Blyth. James of Auburn, Donald of Blyth and Kenneth of Goderich. Also 23 grand- children and three .great- grandchildren. Mr. Glousher bus one brother. Henry of Blyth and one, sister. Mrs. Elizabeth White of Galt and Mrs. Glousher has one sister- in-law, -Mrs. Dorothy Creighton of Clinton. The best wishes of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Glousher on this occasion.
