Last Thursday and Friday
saw the beginning of the
Seaforth curling season with
tali draws at and 9 pan. on
Thursday, and one WI draw
at 8"p.m, on Friday.
The teams having byes and
playing on Sunday found that
the mild day had caused just
enough moisture on the ice to
make it al.raost impossible to
get a rock down the rink. As a
result, all teams quit after
two ends. Some agreed to
split their points. others
rescheduled their games for 7
p.m, next Sunday night.
The ladies started their
Tuesday afternoon draw on
December 2, with a very good
turnout. and the competitive
draw began on Wednesday
December 3, with aright teams
competing.

Our new curlers. who
received instruction last
week dial generally well on
their first night out. One
common fault, . however,, was
to get down in the hack. look
down the length of the ice and
suddenly think "Omigod,
that's a long way down
there". The tendency then,
was to give the rock an extra
push just as it was released.
It's an 'error of which we
have all been guilty of at one
time or another. We have
found, however, that the skips
in Qur club are a very un-
derstanding tot and they
,realize that new curlers must
havetime to perfect delivery
and learn weight. So don't
worry, we were all new
curlers once ourselves.
On Sunday November 30,
eight of our present club
members turned out for in-
struction on delivery of the
rock. 11 is hoped that
everyone left after a good
workout. feeling that they had
learned something wor-
thwhile. If you see your skip
coming out of the hack like
you've never seen him come
out before. you'll know he is
trying to change his delivery.
The club has been rented on
Sunday afternoon, December
14 to the Monkton Curling
Club. At least 30 of their
members are interested in
changing .to or learning the
Hat foot method of delivering
a rock and they have made
arrangements for instruction.
Each Monday, Wednesday
and Thursday at 4 to y: 30 p. M.
from December 1. to
December 18, instruction. has
been arranged for 45 public
scho l children who have
shown a ken interest in
learning ho to curt. One
certainty can say that the
sport of curling is catching on
like wildfire.
A rank of our local men
have entered the annual
Imperial Bonspiel in Sarnia
on December 4, 5 and 6. More

fellows make out,
By the way: Did you know
that rule 4(2) states: If a
stone is broken in play, the
largest fragment shall be
counted in that end, the
player using another stone
thereafter.
