BY AUDREY MIDDLETON
After a short ' summerr,
absence, the Godertch
Township Recreation Council
resumed its regular monthly
meeting on the fourth Wed.
nesday of the month October

Holmesvlfe.
Chairman John Westbrooke

A brief resume was given
by Hugh Lobb, Gerry Ginn
and John Westbrooke on. the
township's boys- and girls
softball. This year being the
first year for exchange
games- played with neigh-
bouring townships, many
stumbling blocks were en-
countered and several lessons
learned.
Yet John Westbrooke
reported that all townships
were eager to meet prior to
next softball season to set up
a better organized system of
rules and plans.
Council realized this year
that as sports programs grow
with more people. improved
organization is needed.
Winter recreation
programs were discussed.
Hazel McCreath reported
that a nucleus of craft en-
thusiasts met in September to
plana winter program. It was
presented in the two local
papers an October 9 and an
excellent response to this has

Deceptive business practices
hurt everyone.
This is what Ontario is doing
to protect you.
We have a new law in Ontario called
"'the Business Practices Act. Its purpose
is to prevent unfair business practices
in sales to the public. Here's what the
law does:
• it .prohibits false, misleading or
deceptive tactics in the sale of
products and services.
•. it prohibits too high prices, unfair
contracts and high-pressure sales
methods.
• helps people get their money back
if a seller has taken unfair advantage
of them.
The Province of Ontario wants you
to get your money's worth when you
buy. Expensive items such as cars and
horses require a lot of thought, so the
Government of Ontario has prepared
some simple booklets that tell you what
to watch out for when you buy, explain-
, ing the.do's and don'ts about:
"Buying a Car"
"Buying Real Estate"
"Buying a Condominium"
"Getting a Mortgage"
You can also get a booklet called
"Balance in the Marketplace— The
Consumer's Guide to the Business
Practices Act.".
If you wouldiike a copy Of any of
these booklets. or if you wish to
report an unfair business practice.

flationary days.
The council menmbers
began , to , study the • plans
already presented by the
craft group . to decide their
course for action re winter
sports for the township.
Unanimously it was agreed,
that no sports can be offered
without helpers. So—it was
decided to advertise in the
local papers for two weeks in
mid-November for leaders in

Reeve Gerry Ginn reported
that 1975 plans for develop-
ment of thetownship
lakefront park have been
realized. The council noted it
would . be Worthwhile for the
township residents to "take a
look" and note the im-
provements already done at
the park. It's at the end of
Black Point Road south of
Goderich on Highway 21.
Tentative plans for a
springtimetownship dance
were discussed Band time
and place will be set by the
