A request for immediate
action was sent to the Huron-
Perth separate school board
by St. Mary's school in
Goderich.
The request was presented
to the Board at their meeting,
held last Monday , night,
October 27, in Dublin. -
The school asked that the
Board request the Town of
Goderich to supply and pay
an adult crossing guard at the
Bayfield Road and , Bennett
Street intersection for the
safe crossing of students
attending St. Mary's School.
The board agreed to send a
request immediately.

consider installing side -walks
along ;'Bennett Street from St.
Mary's School to Huron
Road; that there be an ex-
tension
xtension of side -walks on
Bayfield Road to the in-
ter`rection of Bennett Street;
and that traffic light be in-
stalled at the intersection of
Bayfield Road and Bennett
Streets.
The board agreed to write a
letter to the Goderich Town
Council asking if council has
given any consideration to
these points.
St. Joseph's School in
Stratford also requested that
the board inform the Straat-

its concern for the safety of
the children and request the
provision of a sidewalk along
the West side of St. Vincent
Street from West Gore Street
to Patricia Road.
The board agreed to inform
the Stratford , Traffic Com-
mission of its concern, im-
mediately.
The Stratford area World
Aid committee requested that
the separate school board
allow posters to be hung in
their schools advertising a
roll-a-thaon to raise money for
the town of Pablito in Costa
Rica.

was a worthwhile project and

posters in their schools.
In further business, a
motion was moved by John
O'Drowsky and seconded by
Vince Young for the board to
consider hiring a part -titre,
at least half-time family life
co-ordinator. After much
discussion as to whether this
program would run into
conflict with religion classes,
it was agreed that the two
programs. religion and
family life should be kept
separate as they are two
separate and • distinct
programs., The motion was
passed.
The board agreed to rent

classrooms to a public school
in Listowel from January 1,
1976 to June 30, 1976, for the
sura of $1,000, plus the cost of
moving the portable and
relocating it.
The Board has hired a part
time music teacher, Alice
Marjorie Graham, for St
Michael's School in Stratford.
In a special meeting of the
Board held October 23, the
tender of the addition to Si
Patrick's school in Kinkora
was ' awarded to Pounder
Brothers, Stratford far a net
price of $210,590. It was the
lowest of four tenders sub-
rnitted.
Pep rally...

They made everyone get to
their feet and participate in
some of our various school
cheers ' "Thunderation" and
"Get on the good foot". A new
cheer was also introduced to
the student body and pretty
soon some of us were at-
tempting "Bumping Boogie".
Marlene Dale concluded
the Pep Rally with an- in-
vitation for an students to
attend either the football
games or the basketball
games.

at the age of 62.
Born October 23, .I912, the
sen el Benjamin and Mary
Ann Rathwell, he•was raised
in Goderich township.
,He married Helen 1.
Nediger in Clinton, in 1948.
They farmed in Goderich
township until 1963 at which
time they moved to Clinton
where Mr. Rathwell was
employed at Clinton Public
School..
M. Rathwell was a former
elder in the Wesley -Willis
United Church.
Surviivieg, besides Mrs.
Rathwell, is one daughter,
Rhonda (Mrs. Stewart
Menzies) of Thunder Bay.
Also surviving are four
brothers, Edgar, of
Goderich; Darcy of
Brucefield,.Thomas,of RR 3,
Clinton, and Arnold of Port
Elgin; and four sisters; Mrs.
John (Muriel) Grigg of
Clinton, Mrs. John (Dorothy)
Ostrom of Varna, . Mrs.
Robert (Marjorie) Stirling of
RR 3, Clinton. and Mrs.
William, (Eleanor) McAsh of
Varna.
