Here's how to keep car
off `won't start' list
WItat needs checking before cola
weather- arrives summarized
in list below
Short of a heated garage, there's no better insurance
that your car will start on a frigid morning than a prop-
erly serviced engine.
Since warm garages are at a premium, the best way
to avoid a frustrating wait for a tow truck is to get your
car in proper shape before cold weather sets in. The
service needed is far less expensive than heating that
garage -
Most cars with starting troubles begin winter with
worn[ spark plugs and defective ignition systems. The
incidence of hard -starting complaints reported by car
owners climbs in direct proportion to the number of
miles the plugs have been in service. '
To make sure your car doesn't show up on the list
of "woon't starts" this, ,winter, here's a check list of the
iters; which *should beinspteted on your oar trete the
weather turns cold:
Everything but
your gloves
To solve the "ft's never
there when you need it"
pram, here's a list of
ite every motorist
should keep in his glove
compartment.
A flashlight. first aid
kit, white .loth to use for
entiergency signalling, pa-
per towel, "soap -and -tow-
er packets. -
Also, coins taped inside.
the door for an emergency
phone call in case of car
trouble.
LET THERE BE LIGHT
If you drive an older
car, its increasing im-
portant to check the align-
ment of your headiighlos.
As cars get older, they
develop sagging springs
which can affect aim of
the lights.

A lot of it. In nationwide fuel economy
tests, motorists' cars were tested before
and after a tune-up. results showed
that a tuna --up with new Champion spark
plugs saved, on the average, a gallon of
gasoline in every tankful. Considering
that 3 of every 5 cars on the road need a
tune-up right now, tune-ups alone could
save us millions of gallons of gasoline
each week.
Tune-ups benefit us in other ways, too.
Quicker acceleration for safer passing.
Dependable starts. Plus a substantial
reduction in emissions.
See your mechanc reguiarly for a
,champion tune-up. 'Once a year or
every 10,000 miles. .
We've got your plug.
