The staffs of Hens -all,
Seafarth, and Stephen Public
Schools joined with oar staff in

on the new curriculum guide
book, "The Formadve Years".
In the afternoon, our staff
visited the Board Office in
Clinton. Mr. Smith, one ofy the
county Supervisors was our
host. Be explained the
magnitude of the work done
within the office by the 'per-
sonnel there, and concluded by

A work period followed, when
the teachers were able to use
some of the facilities available
such as laminating work cards
and pictures, making overhead
copies, or reviewing films.

arranging bark and colourful

Table centre pieces were also
made using bracket fungus,
weeds, and coloured leaves.

especially good in dm outdoors.

joyable as well as educational;

Grade 1 from Huron Cen-
tennial went to Dixon's Apple
Orchard on Tuesday, October 7.
Mr. Pepper drove the bus.
At the orchard we at our
lunch. We had an apple for
dessert. "MMM was it juicy
and sweet". We met the dog,
Trooper. There were 265 apple
trees. We had a wagon ride
through the orchard. Then we
came horde through Exeter,
Hensel. and Kippen.
Now we are talking and
making things about apples. It
was lots of fun to make ap-
*sauce.

We opened the meedng with the
4H pledge.
We then put the bread we had
• made the week before in the
oven to bake.
We discussed a narne for our
club and decided to call our
• club the "Rolling Pins".
The next tneeting was held at
Bev Slade home on Oct. 14.
When the bread was baked
we all had a piece and it was
very good. Our meeting was
then closed.

Senior netters still in first
A week ago Wednesday, the
Sr. Redmen volleyball team
held on to and widened their
margin 41 first place. The
totumament, held at MCI in
Goderich resulted in the Clinton
boys being undefeated in their
four games.
Thi first set provided Clinton
with two wins over Exeter. The'
whole team participated in this
set and all played with great
entilusiasm.
The next set was with
Godetich and again Clinton was
victorious; The second game of
the set Was very close as the
Redmen pulled off their second
come from, behind win this
year.
The win -loss record now
stands at 13 and 3 for the Sr.
Redmen.
Last of the tournaments
before the Huron -Perth
Playoffs was held in Exeter
yesterday. As it looks now, the
teams participating in the
playoffs will be: Central
Huron, Mitchell, Wingham,
Listowel, Goderich and St.
Marys.

'undefeated. The Panthers,
• with three wins and no losses,
• were In first place, while
Central Huron was in second"
spot. with -a record of two wins
and no losses.
Both defences controlled the
• play throughout a scoreless
first quarter. The Panther
defence stalled a Redrnen
scoring drive early in the
quarter by intercepting a pass
in their end zone.
Central Huron took a 6-0 lead
• early in the second quarter.
when Perry Jutzi snared a 35
yatd pass from Robin McAdam
in the end zone. McAdam
kicked the extra point to make
the score 7-0.
With about a minute
remaining in the first half,
Jamie Thompson turned in a
key defensive play by blocking
a Panther punt. Central Huron
took over control of the ball at
the South Huron 40 yard line.
From there Jutzi caught a 30
yard pass, end two plays later,
Brian Murray rortiped ten
yards to give the Redmen a 13-0
lead. Murray also added a two-
point conversion to make the
score at half-time, Central
Huron 15, South Huron 0.
Throughout the third quarter
and almost half of the fourth
the Panthers appeared to take
over the momentum of the
game. However„ a stubborn
and stalwart Redmen defense
ke_p_t them off the score Ward.
With about seven minutes
remaining and the Redmen
hard pressed in their own end.
Central. Huron conceded a two
pointsafity.
The Panthers finally scored a
touchdown when the quar-
terback connected on a 45 yard
pass to Gord Baird. Steve
Knight kicked the convert to
cut the Redmen lead down to
15-9.
The Panthers attempted a
•short kick-off on the ensuing
return. However, Tim Jewson
was able to hold onto the
football.
Two plays later Brian
Murray galloped 50 yards to
give the Redmen an insurance
touchdown. McAdam booted
the convert, for the final score
of 22.9 in favour of Central
Huron,
Both teams turned in strong
performance •in an ex-
ceptionally well -played game.
Both teams showed, why upon
entering the football game that
they were the only twa.
remaining undefeated teams in
the., conference this young
season.
Next game for the Redmen is
en • Thursday, October 16th
when they travel to Listowel to
do battle with the' Lords.
