Hy Seamus Doherty
It is often said that God put a
nip in the air to let us know we are
alive. When the nip co nes in the
air we also now that is is timeto
"button down" the hatches and
prepare for the inevitable on-
slaught of our Canadian Winter.
To your Centennial Band, the
nip in the air means that it is time
to become invigorated and
functions, projects onid events to
lighten the burden of winter for
many in our fair commmunity.
We plan to "kickoff" our fall
and winter activities with one of
those ever popular "a-thons".
Don't ,panic and go running to
lock your windows and bolt your
doors. .we will be coffering a
service.
Our pro ject is a "Work -a-_.
Ilion". --WORK not walk. Watch
this column in the next edition for
complete .details of this wor-
thwhile project. It will infox':n you
of who is eligible, who to contact,
and information on the rules of
the "Work-a-thvn ".
Two other dates have been
established on which the mem-
bers of your band will be exposed
to the music -making of others. It
is hoped that a very gainful ex-
perience will be encountered by
all the members of the band on
both occasions.
On November l2th, your band
will have the opportunity of
listening to the London Sym -
1 4 --JI
discussed and also sweet dough
and rich roll dough.
Each member made
cloverleaf. parkerhouse. snails.
bowknots, figure eights. braids
and fan tans: These are different
types of rolls. Sourdough and
sourdough starter were
discussed.
Our meeting was closed by
singing the 4-H grace and
repeating the, motto. The baked „
rolls were then enjoyed by alL —
by Christine Burgess
to celebrate their
a" all
phony Orchestra at Mitchell and
District High School. Then on.
January 18. a trip to .Lend m,
Qntario has been planned, where
the band membersswill hear the
Youth Band. Keep these ac-
tivities in mind when a member
of your band calls at your
unlocked doer in the weeks
preceding the
WORK--A--THON:
The fees structure of the band
is undergoing a very timely
facelift and promises to make
the fees. not merely more
equitable for all members. but
more reasonable for families
with more than one member. In
this time of inflation. we are not
charging more. so if you have a
child who is 11 years or over and
you wo 1d like more information
call Seamus Doherty 482-7848
right now.
The emergency call is still out
for any kind soul travelling from,
Goderich to Clinton around 7:15'
or 7:30. Three very keen . band
members need a ride Tuesdays
and Thursdays. Businessmen in
town. please bring it, to the at-
tention of your employees.
