Ernest and Joyce Granger
have bought the home of Jim and
Pearl Hutchings. Mr. Granger is
retired from John Labatt in
London. They also think Bayfield
Ls the Village in which to live. We
welcome these families to
Ileyfield and hope they enjoy
their retirement here.
Mr. Gilbert Latimer, enroute
from Oriliia to his home in
Weston, was weekend guest of his
grandmother, Mrs. G.L. Knight.
Mr, and Mrs. Bill Parker spent
Sunday in Tobermory and were
accompanied on their trip by Mr.
and Mrs. C. Merritt of Sarnia.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mackie, Jima
Stephen and Joanne, London
visited Saturday with Mrs.
Mackie's parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Mak ins.
Mrs. W. Earl returned Sunday
to her home in London after being
the guest of her son and daughter-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl
for the past ten days.
Miss Winnie Armstrong,
Fanshawe College. London was
with her parents and family. Mr.
and Mrs. W.D. Armstrong.
James and Julia. RR 3; Bayfield
for the weekend.
Dr. Alton and Mrs. Reddoch of
Whitehorse, Yukon have been
with his parents, Rev, and Mrs.
James Reddoch for the past few
days. With them on Sunday were
their son and daughter-in-law.

Ducharme and a gentleman front
the Kieinfeidt Group approached
Council with plans for a ..sub
division. Council gave approval
in Principle in accordance with
the submitted plans. and .passed a
by-law , to authorize the
agreement between the ministry
of housing and the Village on the
Senior Citizens Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham Reddoch
of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs.
William Oltman of Kincardine.
The family enjoyed a fresh
lobster dinner brought from
Maine.
Colonel and Mrs. H°.A. White of
Upper Hatfield, Sussex, England
came on Sunday to visit their
cousin, Mrs. Cart Diehl, relatives
and friends in Ontario.
Mr. and Mrs. George H.
Durham of Mississauga motored
to . the Village with them and
spent the afternoon with their
aunt.
Also calling at the Hut were
Mrs. R.H. Middleton of Henson,
accompanied by her sister. Mrs,
Marie Wilson of Toronto, Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Middleton, Robbi and
Sarah of Wingham.
Miss Kethleen Reid, Col. and
Mrs. White spent Tuesday with
the latter's cousins, the Rev. and
Mrs. H.G.E. Krosby in
Mooretowr>;.
The Bayfield Ever Young
Senior Citizens were the guests of
the Golden RadarClub in Clinton
Wednesday evening. Euchre was
enjoyed and the group were
served a lovely lunch. All
reported a good time.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker
were Sunday evening guests of
Canon F.H. Paull and Miss
Carrie Dixon.
Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Higgins,
Cohn and Scott of Port Dover
spent the weekend with his
parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jr. B.
Higgins at "The Maples".
Mr. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau and
Mr. Alf Scotchmer visited for the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Cluff. Rob and Tara in London
and on Saturday attended the
wedding of Miss Cathy Simpson
to Mr. Gary Stingle.
Mrs. Lena Ervine spent last
week in Waterloo as the guest of
her daughter and son-in-law and
granddaughters, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Meyer, Michelle and
Marsha. With Mrs. Ervine for the
weekend were her brother-in-law
gild sister. Mr. and Mrs. _Earl
Strong of Tara. and on Sunday
they all visited with their cousin
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Studer in
London.
Mr. Bud Sturgeon and Miss
Barbara Davidson, London were
with Bud's family. Mr. and Mrs.
Jack B. Sturgeon and Andrew for

Murney's son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Carter' of St. Marys who were
also at their cottage for the
weekend.
Sunday dinner guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Mel Jewell and Wade
were her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jenkins of Goderich.
Sunday. October 12 will be the
fast service in Knox Presbyterian
Church for this season. Mr.
Dwight Nelson will be conducting
the Thanksgiving Service at 11
a. m.
Mr. Renouf W.A. Johns. Mount
Clemens. Mich. was at his Village
home for the weekend.
Chuck Pruss. London joined his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith
Pruss at their cottage for the
weekend.

Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Gale who took it upon
themselves to form a very suc-
cessful Soccer Club in Bayfield.
The boys have all enjoyed
themselves this past soccer
season during their practice
sessions and their matches with
other clubs.
After defeating the Clinton
team 1 - 0 on Saturday , in
Bayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Gale took
the members to the Pop Shoppe
in Grand Bend for a party to wind
up the season.
The boys presented Mr. and
Mrs. Gale with a set of coffee
mugs in . appreciation for their
finc efforts with the gccer Club.
After dinner the Gales presented
the boys with balloons and comic
books, and awarded David
Sturgeon the soccer ball for
scoring the final goal of the
season: Robbie Siertsema and
Robert Boyes were presented
with hockey sticks and Darin
Telford with a frisbee for their -
participation in the contests.
Mrs. Glen Sturgeon and Mrs.
George Telford supplied home
baked cakes and assisted with the
serving far the 18 boys who at-
tended. A vote -of thanks also goes
to the owners of the Pop Shoppe
for their kind hospitality.

An Olympathon was sponsored
by the local Lions Club in con-
junction with Lions International
on Sat. Oct. 4. Fifty percent of the
money raised through the
watkathon will go towards
preparing Canadian athletes far
international competition at the
1976 Olympic Games. The other
50 percent will be used locally to
sponsor boys' and girls' activities
in the local community.
Twenty people participated.
both old and young. to make the
local Olympethon a great suc-
cess. Over $500 was realized
through pledges. ' Special
congratulations go to the
youngest walker.` Jody Merner,
who at the age of three. com-
pleted the ten mile walk. and had
over 75 sponsors. and more.

Mr. Ernie Hovey won the prize
for being the oldest participant.
Four boys tied for being the first'
to complete the ten mile hike in
just under 2% hours. These boys
were Ricky Johnston. Jeff and
Dennis Merner and Robbie
Siertsema. '.Brutus,'. the dog.
tied also but was not awarded a
prize in that he lacked sponsors.
Prizes are to be donated, at the
next regular Lions meeting on
_,Tuesday. Oct. 14.

' Hayfield 11 4-H Club
The "Dough -Nuts" opened
their meeting last week by
repeating the 441 pledge and
motto with their president Karen
Talbot in charge.
The girls discussed what was
the best temperature for rising
dough. what happened during the
rising period, tests to indicate
whether the dough had risen
enough for the first rising and
three factors that would vary for
temperatures for bread or rolls.
Mrs. Merner demonstrated
how to roll and shape loaves of
bread. She also showed us how to
test if the dough had risen enough
to shape into loaves.
The next meeting was held at
the home of Mrs. Tom Penhale on
