September 16. This meeting was opened by repeating the Lord's Prayer, and singing "Jesus Bids Us Shine' . Devotions were given. and business was discussed. Roll call was taken and Hazel read a speech given by Shirley Benton entitled "White Ban- ners**. an- ners'.. This was followed by singing "1-1e Leadeth Me" and a prayer The "Dutch Auction" was held and then lunch was served. . The rector blessed tire fields as they stopped at each side of the church, when re-entering the church. every one picked up their gifts and took there to the altar to be blessed. The choir sang . an Anthem "Let there be peace". The gifts were taken by the rector to the Children's Aid Society in Goderich, to be given to the needy families. Good Luck Drew. Our sumpathy goes to the Hoggart family in the recent loss of their son John. A group of ladies gathered at the home of Blanche fleeves for a toy chest,demonstration. The ladies played two gatnes with the winners being Marion Smith, and Mary Smith. Lunch was served by the hostess with EleanorConnolly assisting. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Goodwin of Kitchener visited on Sunday with Mrs. Audrey Christie. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer MacGregor are holidaying with Mrs. Wm. MacGregor and Mr. and Mn. Edgar McClinchey. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brock have- taken up residence in Exeter this week. Miss -Beatrice 'Thompson and John Thompson have returned to Fanshawe College to resurne their studies this week. Miss- 'Margaret •Hyde of London spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hyde. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beaver and family of Paris were recent, visitors with 'Mrs. Edith Bell and Sylvia. Mr. Cameron Henry of Landon spent the weekend at his home here. Robert Thompson Robert Thompson of Kippen passed away in South Huron Hospital on Thursday Sep- tember 18, in his 99th year. He was the husband of the late Agnes Hay. Prior to moving to Kipper'. the late Mr. Thompson farmed for many years on Highway 4 between Heensaii and Kippen. Surviving is a ',son Robert (Bert) Thompson of RR 2, Kippen; daughters Mrs. Clarence (Pearl) Priestap, RR 3. Mitchell, Mrs. David (Hazel) Moyer, Parry Sound. Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Cornish, Goderich, Mrs.' lambert (Myrtle) Stokes, London. and Mrs. Lawrence (Blanche Elaine) Schneider, Stratford. Also surviving. are 18 grand- children and 17 great- grandchiideen. Funeral service was con- ducted from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel on Sunday by Rev.. W.D. Jarvis. Interment was in Mensal! Union Cemetery. Flower bearers were Bruce Thompson and Garry Schneider. Stratford. Pallbearers were William Coleman, Jack Bell, Rochus Faber, Doug Cooper, Brian Smillie and Jim Armstrong.
