The Hfslop's of Scotland remained for a few days longer visit with the Baker's. Stephen Farris, student minister and his wife Patty who has been his assistant at Knox Presbyterian Church for the summer preached his final Sermon Sunday last. He and his wife left for Montgomery, West Virginia where he will carry on his regular duties in a Church and further his studies for the next year. Bayfield youth will loin Coast Guard --Mr...--Percy.--Romer—has .-in-.. formed us that his son David has been accepted into the Canadian Coast Guard. David leaves Hayfield Saturday August 30 for Sidney, Nova Scotia, and for the next seven years will be studying for his college education and receiving practical training in the Coast Guard. Instead the Society will be conducting a door .to door canvass in the Village '\' during the- month of September. , ,. njoys trip Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Erickson, Andrew, Luanne ' and Lydia arrived horse Thursday evening from a most enjoyable ten day vacation at Crazy Horse Campgrounds, Lapeer Road in Port Huron Mich. The Campgrounds were a delight in the fact that they were ex- ceptionally clean, very restful and full of friendly people. White birch and poplar trees formed plenty of shade with only enough trees removed to allow space for holiday cam- pers. The children were most enthused with the numerous activities planned to entertain them, There was swimming, playgrounds with sand boxes, O chiga swings, monkey bags etc. ; a movie every evening; a white elephant bingo every Wed- nesday night and a shay -ride every evening after dinner; and several contests in the Park to keep them occupied. By 11 '00 p. m. the Campgrounds were quiet with most everyone sitting around enjoying their campfires. No motorized bicycles or motorcycles were allowed and the 10 mile an hour speed limit on the Grounds made it a safe place for the children and worry free for the parents. While there. the family took a side , trip to Frankenmuth. Mr. Richard Westlake. London spent the weekend with his family,. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd A. Westlake. Catherine Ann and Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sturgeon. Jo Anne, David and Jayne returned to their home in the Village on Wed. after enjoying a holiday in the Niagara Area. While there. they spent a day at the Marinelantl and Game Farm and highly recom- mended this attraction; visited General Brock's monument; and toured the Horticultural School where they said the flowers were just beautiful and the landscaping was breathtaking. w maze of flowers Which were planted everywhere even on the boulevards and the nume-nous historical buildings and .in- teresting shops. They also enjoyed a delightful day at the Armada Fair complete with heavy draft horses. riding horses, ponies, all types of cattle, pigs and poultry. One building that especially drew their attention was that of the 4H club exhibits, showing that the young people were as much involved as the older ones with their varying arts, crafts and vegetable and fruit displays, The children enjoyed the usual, rides. candy floss, hotd©gs etc. that go together to make a perfect and complete day for them. All in all. it was a great holiday and this writer is fin- ding it very tough to settle back into a routine. Our special thanks to Mrs. LeRoy Poth, Mrs. Frank Burch. Mrs. R.A. Simons and Patricia Cooper for keeping the Bugle going while we really enjoyed our holiday.
