Big expands
The big 0 Drain Tile Com-
pany on No 4 Highway is again
expanding. Workhas begun on
a _newAvateltoose 64 by 88 feet
which will give them an ad-
ditional 5,600 square feet of
space. It is to be used for
producing and ,storing filter
used in special application
drain tile and it is hoped that it
will be ready for use early in
September.
To make room for the
warehouse, 'a small bungalow
was wrecked. Erected by the
late Dr. Moir in the thirties, it
was first the home of Dr. Moir's
brother and sister. Later Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Faber lived
there and following, that Mr.
and Mrts�. William Hyde. Wm.
Hyde w.iffl.beremembered as an
"Old tine" fiddler of local
renown who won many trophies
both in this area and in Western
Ontario.
After his death Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Pollock resided there 'and
Vanastra

A small story, of interest to
Vanastra readers: this sum-
mer, a portable library from
Huron, County Library serviced
the campsite at ' The Falls'
Reserve, Benmilter. We have_.
-received no such co-operation,
a community of 653 permanent
residents. Perhaps if we all
pitched tents we would at least
qualify for summer service
from the Duron County
Library.
Canimanity Association
The Vanastra Community
- Association is planning a
general meeting in the next
week or two. These meetings
are very important for
Vanastra. It is hoped the
Community Association could
urn such functions as:

developing the identity of
ourselves as a community. Who

diamond. Holmesville's senior
A and B teams joined together
to meet the Colborne seniors in
a single game .with the score
ending 20-2 for.Holmesville.

double, a triple and a hom run.
Colborne and Goderich
township juniors played with
Holmesville losing 22-12. Stars

between- the residents of
Vanastra and the Township and=
develop progress within,the -
community, as well as soling
grievances:
Discussion : These monthly
assn iatinn meetings provide a
good place for people to meet
and discuss what they like
about Vanastra, what they
don't like about Vanastra and
what they would like to see in
the future. We' are fortunate to
be a, new community, forming
our goals. With cooperation in
the growing stages the Com-
munity of Vanastra has . a
future, It is what you mike it as,

Inquest set
Huron County Coroner Dr.
Charles Wallace of Zurich has
announced that an inquest into
the August 2 death of Douglas
Schilbe, west of Hensall, will be
held in September.
Schilbe,.a Eayfield resident,
was run over by a motorist and
dragged almost 100 feet on
highwiry 84 west of Hensall.
Investigating officers from
the Exeter OPP detachment
said the motorist drove to
Zurich before reporting the
accident. He said the man was
lying on the highway when he
vas -run over.
Police are continuing their
investigation.

Courses planned
The Ontario ministry of
agriculture and food is spon-
soring 4-11 -Homemaking Clubs
for Fall in Huron County.
There has been a revival of
interest in the skills, arts and
crafts of yesteryear. Bread-
rnaking has become in-
creasingly popular and -because
of this, a new projcet developed
called "Let's Bake Bread".
Club members will learn the
techniques of making bread
and rolls. A variety of recipes is
included for homemade breads'
and their- uses in meals and
snacks.
