Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaffe, Joey, Tony and Jackie of Mitchell, visited this week With Mrs. Chaffe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corbett. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Keyes and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corbett spent the weekend holidaying at the formers cottage in the tiburton district. Mrs. Albert Shirray and Mrs, Esther Wright returned home from a pleasant trip to London, England and also to many places in Scotland. Mr. Ross Corbett returned home from St. Joseph's Hospital, London after having surgery on his elboWwhich he injured in his home:14 Bride honored at Showers Miss Joan Allan, the bride - elect of this week, was the guest of honor at a miscellaneous shower at the Legion Hall on July 23rd. The Hall was at- tractively decorated for the occasion, which was arranged by Marg McDonald who was assisted by Pauline McBride and Iva Reid. On Friday August 1st Miss Ruby Beierling entertained at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Herb Beierling of RR 2, Zurich, where Joan was the recipient of many beautiful gifts. Tony and Jackie Chaffe of Mitchell are spending this Week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corbett while attending recreation school at Centralia. Personals Mrs. Harold Dignan returned ihome after convalescing, following surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. • r. and Mrs. Don Joynt ' at their cottage on Manitoulin Island. Mrs. Glenn E. Bell, who was a patient in South Huron Hospital last week, returned to her home. Mr. Rod Chapman of the staff of the Bank of Montreal has been transferred from the Huron Park branch to the Bank of Montreal branch MI Id may and commenced employment there this week. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor was' in London over the weekend and was a guest at the Gray - Brady wedding. Thomas 3. Gittlis Thomas J. "Gittus of Herman passed away at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Friday, August 8th in his 85th year. Surviving are his wife, Ger- trude (Weseloh) ; sons, Richard J. Bridgetown, Missouri, and Arthur J. Rochester, Min- nesota; a brother, William, Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Mrs. Ida Underwood, Mrs. Linnie Houston, Mrs. Fred Weselok, Tecumseh, Mich. ; and Mrs. Margaret Lewis, Rochester, Mich. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel on Monday., August 11 at 2.p.m. conducted by Rev. LH. Kalbfleisch. Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Zurich. JOIN THE CAM BE A REGULAR BLOOD DONOR Seniors get IDs Senior citizens in the Clinton area arex among those from across Canada to receive special identification cards issued by Health -and Welfare Canada. The cards are being sent automatically, to all Old Age Security recipients 65 years of age and over. The department emphasize, the fact that there is no need for anyone to file an application as cards are being mailed automatically to eligible persons. Department officials also stressed that the entire program of issuing the cards will take approximately three months to complete. Health and Welfare Minister Marc Lalonde pointed oat• that the identity cards will allow the bearer to benefit from certain consumer •discounts, reduced travel fares granted by local and tong distance carriers and other advantages accorded to the elderly. It may also be used by pensioners and their organizations in negotiating additional discounts for senior citizens. BRIDAL SHOWERS Twenty-five relatiOes gathered at the home of Mrs. Bud Chamney on August 3 to honour Miss Lynn Mansell prior to her forthcoming marriage. A corsage was pinned on Lynn by Miss Lorraine Chamney and the guests were welcomed by Lorraine and Mrs. Larry Chamney of Kit- chener. Games were played with Glenda Bolger, Clinton. Barbara Chamney, RR 2, Auburn and Mrs. Norman Vincent, Londesboro the winners. Gifts were presented by the cousins and Lynn thanked everyone for their gifts. A _ delicious lunch of ice cream, cake and lemonade was served. Pink and white streamers and wedding bells decorated the antique and craft room of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Nibiock last Tuesday evening when over 50 neighbours and friends gathered to honor Miss Lynn Mansell prior to her marriage. Lynn was escorted to a decorated chair and Connie Trimmer pinned a rose cor- sage on her. Judy Van Dongen pinned a rose corsage on Mrs. Gordon Chamney and Linda Van Dongen pinned a corsage on Mrs. Ernie Niblock. The chairman for the program, was Mrs. Ross Deer.
