Last Saturday, Huron-
Middlesex
uronMiddlesex MPP Jack Riddell,
Seaforth Mayor Betty Cardno
and Kitchener Mayor Edith
Macintosh were all faced' with
the same awesome task -
judging the winners of the best
house and commercial building
decorating contest.
For over two hours, the three
dignitaries, accompanied by
Centennial Girls Brenda
Galachiuk and. Nancy Kuehl,
students of Miloslawa's School
of Dance, travelled up and
down the streets of Clinton in
convertibles judging the ar-
tistic ingenuity of the town's
homeowners and merchants.
When it was all over, the
contest winners were ° an-
nounced
nnounced by MPP Riddell at
the Radar Ball.
Smith's Pro Hardware at 7
Albert Street was judged the
best decorated commercial
building; Mary's Sewing
Centre at 1:7 Victoria Street was
second and Beattie Furniture •
at 18 Albert Street followed in
close -third.
In the best decorated house in
the daytime division, • Les
Turner of 14 Dunlop Street
carne out first. Mr. Turner
carved out a fiowert ed in frnnt
of his homg that, spelled out the
words "Clinton. 100", and his
hard work and creativity
suitably impressed the judges.
Hector Kingswell of 166 Isaac
Street was, judged second and
third place went to Ray- Mit-
chell of 241. Maple Street.
Earl Lawson's 116 East
Street home was . judged the
best decorated house at night;
George Lavis of 54 William
Street was second; and Don
Switzer of 181 Rattenbury
Street was third.
This Saturday, each of the
placing winners will be
presented with one of three
