day began with a huge Pet
Parade. All money that was
relied was used to pay far a new
13 acre park adjacent to the
*Bayfield River. The club had
plans for a picnic area, swim-
ming pool and play area. After
the Pet Parade there were games
of chance and a street dance at
night.) ,
1953 was the first year that
our Kinsmen Club conducted the
Christmas Toy' Project in helping
the needy to a better Christmas.
This else was the year that our
Minor Hockey Program began.

nival held on Labour Day. Mrs.
Harold Lawson won the big prize
- a 16 foot outboard motor boat
with motor and trailer. Dick
Fremlin was appointed as
chairman to organize a town
'league peewee baseball.

Most of the work conducted
in this year was for the Clinton
Community Swimming Pool.
This fall they sold their park due
to some problems. Held first
Peanut Drive on Tuesday.
December 4th. Mait Edgar won
the trophy for the best bulletins in
District No. 1.
1957 -58 President: Don Kay
First Stanley Cup Hockey
Draw , was conducted with the
first winner . being Miss Phyllis
Elliott (now Edwards) $500.00.

construct a hodie on Matilda
Street to give a family that was
burnt out a new start in life. At
the zone conference in 1960 our
Club won the Sinclair Award for
this project. Our baseball team in
the Local Industrial League lost
out to the Legion.

the Lions Club to help pay for a
new motor needed for the ar-
tificial ice plant. Malt Edgar
successfully elected as Deputy -
Governor of Zone B. Danny
Coiquhoun voted "Kinsman -of -
the -Year" for Zone B. First Stag
Night held at Bayfield Pavilion.

over 22 miles to Wingham.

Many members who were
taught by George Jefferscin
conducted a skit of events that
happened to the 'Kinsmen
members when they were his
students. The club appointed two
members to the newly formed
Clinton Athletic Association. Toni
Feeney won 'Kinsman -of -the-
-Year Award at -District -Con-
vention in Kitchener. Mayor
Miller told a tali tale at
"Wiligham ' Trade Fair" to win
club $50.00.
1962-63 President: Prank Cook
° Purchased a $420.00 recovery
bed for the new wing in the
Hospital. Sponsored .a Kinsmen
Talent Contest. Donated $650.00
to help the Recreation Carilmitten
supply equipment for the two new
parks: Alma Grove and Hugh
Hawkini Memorial Park. 2nd

Seniors' housing
The fir?t Senior Citizen's
housing unit was officially
opened in ,June of 1971. It is a
Modern 18 -unit building situated
on James Street just south of the
Catholic- Church. Each, unit
consists of a livingreotii; kitchen,
one bedroom, and a bathroom.
There is a recreation room, and
their are laundry facilities. t
Rentals are based on the
personal income of the rentor.
• When the tenants first moved
• into their new home, the local
Kinsmen lent a helping hand and
soon had their furniture and
-belongings transfer to their new
home.
• A second Sr., Citizen's
housing unit is now being built on
King St. and will be ready for
occupancy later this year.
