(Note: These cansTare still in use today). • 1952 - 53 President: George Rutriball replaced Trev. in October 1952. Held a monster Kinsmen reival on labour Day. (The day began with a huge Pet Parade. All money that was relied was used to pay far a new 13 acre park adjacent to the *Bayfield River. The club had plans for a picnic area, swim- ming pool and play area. After the Pet Parade there were games of chance and a street dance at night.) , 1953 was the first year that our Kinsmen Club conducted the Christmas Toy' Project in helping the needy to a better Christmas. This else was the year that our Minor Hockey Program began. • ‘, 1953 - .54 Preisdent: George Rumball s. A total of 40 boys.part1cipated in the Mirror Hockey Program. Held a big Car Bingo on May 14th. Gave away a 1954 Plymouth. TV set, two special games of $10100 Held a. local Talent Show, "You CantBeat Fun" on June 17th and "18th at Clinton Community PaRk. Donated money to the Fire ' Department .to help buy. a Resuscitator. Kinette Club also donated $15.00. 1954 - 55 President : Don Colquhourt 3rd Annual: Kinsmen Kar- nival held on Labour Day. Mrs. Harold Lawson won the big prize - a 16 foot outboard motor boat with motor and trailer. Dick Fremlin was appointed as chairman to organize a town 'league peewee baseball. 1956 - 57 President: Harry McEwan Most of the work conducted in this year was for the Clinton Community Swimming Pool. This fall they sold their park due to some problems. Held first Peanut Drive on Tuesday. December 4th. Mait Edgar won the trophy for the best bulletins in District No. 1. 1957 -58 President: Don Kay First Stanley Cup Hockey Draw , was conducted with the first winner . being Miss Phyllis Elliott (now Edwards) $500.00. • ming • the summer our club sponsored a Donkey Baseball Game, their opponents were the members of the RCAF. SGTS. Mess 1958 59 President: Mait Edgar. Undertook the major project of numbering all houses in town. ' Donated a further 000.00 to .the Community Swimming Pool. •Held the first Dale Carneige Course. Sponsored 'a Squirt Tournament in Clinton's first minor Hockey Day. Donated $20040 to Retarded Children's AsSoCiation. Donated $200.06 to complete plans tor final Phase of the new Community Switnining Peel, Th� Clinton Kinsmen undertook the taSk to construct a hodie on Matilda Street to give a family that was burnt out a new start in life. At the zone conference in 1960 our Club won the Sinclair Award for this project. Our baseball team in the Local Industrial League lost out to the Legion. 1960 -61 President: Ken Scott Authorized a gift ot$200.00-tO the Lions Club to help pay for a new motor needed for the ar- tificial ice plant. Malt Edgar successfully elected as Deputy - Governor of Zone B. Danny Coiquhoun voted "Kinsman -of - the -Year" for Zone B. First Stag Night held at Bayfield Pavilion. $5.00 per ticket, free smorgasbord lunch. Don Kay won Kinsman -of -the -Year Award for District No, 1. Clinton won $100.00 for the Buggy Rate - of over 22 miles to Wingham. 1961 - , 62 President: Clarence Denomme Many members who were taught by George Jefferscin conducted a skit of events that happened to the 'Kinsmen members when they were his students. The club appointed two members to the newly formed Clinton Athletic Association. Toni Feeney won 'Kinsman -of -the- -Year Award at -District -Con- vention in Kitchener. Mayor Miller told a tali tale at "Wiligham ' Trade Fair" to win club $50.00. 1962-63 President: Prank Cook ° Purchased a $420.00 recovery bed for the new wing in the Hospital. Sponsored .a Kinsmen Talent Contest. Donated $650.00 to help the Recreation Carilmitten supply equipment for the two new parks: Alma Grove and Hugh Hawkini Memorial Park. 2nd Peewee Ball Team to win a WOAA "13" Baseball Cham- pionship. 1963 - 64 -President: BiliChowen Don Kay and cord Grin appointed to a committee to investigate the possibility of constructing a new Community Centre. The club promoted Past Dep. Governer Malt Edgdr as a candidate Or Governor for District No. 1. Mait was, elected at Sarnia. Bob Mann Was also,a winner at Sarnia winning the Gard Harbinsen Speaking Trophy. 1964-65 President: Tom Feeney A trust fund of $1,300.00 profits from Annual Stag to be set aside for • contribution towards Clinton Community Centre. Most of the club members were kept busy aiding Gemernor Mait Edgar as District Executive members and as travelling mates. Donated walkie- talkie to the Fire Department. 1973 - 74 President: Ron .Jewitt -Paved the area around -the Pari -Mutual. Passed a motion to donate $5000.00 to the Ausable- Bayfield Conservation !Association for improvement of 'their park at the edge of Town. 1974 - 75 President: Gary Jewitt A picnic pavilion is being built !at the BayfieldAusable Park. Celebrated Robbie Burn's Bir- thday with Lions Club. Clinton Centennial celebrations this year. Projects have included: 1- C.N.I.B. canvass 2 - helped sell ticketslor Vanastra pool lottery 3 support ot,minor hockey and • helping sedior citizens move. - gent 1959- 60 President: DonEpps. ' r Seniors' housing The fir?t Senior Citizen's housing unit was officially opened in ,June of 1971. It is a Modern 18 -unit building situated on James Street just south of the Catholic- Church. Each, unit consists of a livingreotii; kitchen, one bedroom, and a bathroom. There is a recreation room, and their are laundry facilities. t Rentals are based on the personal income of the rentor. • When the tenants first moved • into their new home, the local Kinsmen lent a helping hand and soon had their furniture and -belongings transfer to their new home. • A second Sr., Citizen's housing unit is now being built on King St. and will be ready for occupancy later this year. are proud of our relationship with people throu hout the county, and as you in Clinton celebrate your centennial may we -express our best wishes and our sincere appreciation for your patronage
